The teacher raised an eyebrow. "Please bring it by tomorrow, or I shall have to mark it on your report card." As the teacher walked away, Peter looked at her. "So, why couldn't you bring it if you finished it?" he whispered, glancing at the teacher's back.

Sophie glanced at him, astonished. "You haven't heard?! Did you get my text?" Seeing the teacher look back at them, Sophie took out a piece of paper and a pen. "It's the tower. Someone bombed it." She wrote. Sophie felt her eyes watering. 'Stop it!' She angrily ordered herself, taking a deep breath.

Peter felt over his pockets, panicking a little as he realized his phone was on his nightstand where he'd set it last night! He grabbed his pen and wrote in his notebook, after tearing out a few pages for her to use, "THE TOWER IS GONE!?!? WHERE WAS I LAST NIGHT!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYY" and he underlined the "why" three times. 'Okay, cool it, Parker, don't panic now, not here, not in English class,' he told himself as he took a few deep breaths. After a moment he wrote, "So what happens now?"

Sophie smiled a little to herself at Pete's panic, then became solemn again. She gave him an, 'I know right?' look, then wrote, "I really don't know. Tony and I are catching a flight after school. I don't even know where." Sophie sighed a little. She didn't have many friends her age and having to travel like this made her feel different from other kids. 'I wish Pete could come along' She thought 'But that's silly, why would he need to?'

Peter visibly slumped. He wrote, "You'll be gone for... how long? I still can't believe it. I thought that place had defense mechanisms like nobody's business." Through the rest of the period, Peter was obviously uninterested. The teacher remarked on it once, and after a mumbled apology he sat up a bit and tried to look remotely interested. When the bell rang, he shuffled to his locker, put his English in, and pulled out the algebra. "I guess you'll need a notebook," he said, digging around deep in his locker. When he handed Sophie the notebook, his eyes were a little red. "I don't see why you have to leave," he said, sniffing. You guys could stay with me and Aunt May- actually, on second thought, maybe that wouldn't work," he said in an attempt to lighten the mood. "I don't think your dad likes Aunt May's cooking very much but have you tried her walnut-date loaf. It is, like, the best thing I think I've ever had- except for pizza. And maybe cookies. It's really good, but she doesn't make it very often." He sighed, a smile slowly starting across his face before the bell rang and he jumped. "Oh geez, we'd better go."

Sophie took the notebook and gave him a warm smile. "I'm sure its delicious" Following him to their algebra class, she said, "We probably won't be gone that long, I think" trying to reassure him and herself at the same time

"I hope not," Peter said, holding the door for her and a couple of other girls.
(Okay, skipping to lunch because school is, well, kind of boring)
His voice masked in the din of conversing teenagers, Peter asked Sophie, "Is it okay if I sit next to you? Not trying to be creepy or anything, I just want to talk. Like, what happened? And when?"

Sophie rolled her eyes and smiled. "Pete, that's not creepy. You're my friend. Its totally normal for you to sit with me." She opened a bag of chips. "Uh, well I just woke up to Tony telling me to get out. We went around getting everybody else out too. All most everybody is fine, there were a few deaths though." She paused solemnly. "Oh and" she lowered her voice, "Tony gave me my own suit. It's called a boa suit." Her excitement showed plainly on her face, then she continued, "Tony is with Sam. Wanda and I went with Natasha. We headed to a safe house of hers but we had to leave because somebody found us. Then they dropped me off here. I haven't really slept at all" she grimaced

Peter looked kind of sad. "How many people died? Anyone we know?" He listened excitedly to her description of the suit. "You have your own suit now? That is awesome!" As she kept talking, "Who found them? Isn't Natasha, like, a super-spy?" And, as she finished, "I can cover for you. Or I can swing by a Starbucks and get you a coffee. Seriously, I can be back here in fifteen minutes."

"I'm not sure and I don't think so." She smiled at his enthusiasm and said, "Ya, it's super cool. I'm not sure who found us, somebody called her. Oh and they mentioned the winter solider. She acted like it was no big deal but then we had to leave, because it looked like someone was outside. A coffee would be great, thanks!" Sophie sighed appreciatively, then sat up straight in her chair, "Especially because i just remembered I have a test today. Ugh."
