Itami is uncharacteristically silent - he seems to be thinking.

Shiawase looks like she's starting to panic. "I - what's hurting?"

Shiawase glances at Itami out of the corner of her eyes, wondering. . .

Rin looks down at them, wishing he could provide some sort of assistance, but nothing strikes him at the moment.

I'm going to stop you right there - but thank you for believing I'm the most dangerous thing in existence. Have you ever considered that A) this is new for both of them, and B), that Hitari carrying a primordial force of nature in himself might not be good for him? Itami sighs. Sometimes I swear I'm the only one that thinks and listens around here. Probably because all of you insist on going away in your little groups doing who-knows-what.

Shiawase turns a little pale. "You. . .earlier, when you were talking about Hitari's past. . .you said Chaos chose him as a child. Are you saying - "

Yes, I'm saying that Chaos might be. . .well, detrimental for him in the short- and long-term. It's like getting poisoned from the inside. Itami glances at Kanashimi/Hitari, who is still curled up in the fetal position. Along with those effects, it probably hurts his timeline, too. Nasty business. It's one of the most logical laws in the multiverse: never bind yourself to something that exists across every plane. I suspect his alternate selves are all jumbled in his mind somewhere.

Shiawase stares blankly at Itami. Oh my clarity, I. . .he's. . .Itami's probably right. And that's never good, she thinks.

"How come it only started to surface now?" Rin wonders aloud. "I mean, of all times?"

Itami shrugs. Why would you expect me to know that? But I would guess it's all the. . .I dunno, excitement? Confusion? Emotion in general? That stuff builds up, which is why we exist to cause and drain it. As Zandaka would probably say: Koena. Balance.

". . .but. . ." Shiawase looks down at Kanashimi/Hitari (who appears to be zoning out), obviously still concerned. "What about Kanashimi? And. . .what happens to Hitari when whatever's breaking down shatters. . .?"

Itami waves his hand. Eh, Kanashimi's still there. You should've been able to tell that much from them talking at the same time. I suppose being knocked out balanced them perfectly, huh?

Rin is still confused, but he clams up and does not speak any further.
