Natasha set off at a quick walk, sidestepping the ruts and dips in the dirt floor. She led them through several twists, turns, and forks, each separated by lots of straight going. Once or twice they came to a bridge made of a single slab of stone, crossing a subterranean river. After a few hours of the rapid powerwalking, Natasha stopped, breathing hard. "Everybody okay? No scrapes, bumps or cuts that need looking at? We good to go on another hour? We're about eighty-five percent of the way through. By now, the bad guys have figured out we're not in the house, have probably found the safe room, and are scanning all nearby terrain. We are now seven miles from where they'll be looking for us. Okay, are we good to go on?"

Sophie paused, and nodded. She felt fine. "I'm good. Wanda?"

Wanda smiled a little. "I'm very tired, Nat. My legs wore out two miles ago and flying with my powers is very hard in this tunnel. Can we have five minutes?" Nat laughed. "We can have five minutes, Wanda. But it's seven already, so we're going to have to hustle if we're getting Sophie to school on time." Turning to Sophie, Nat asked, "How often are you late to school?"

Sophie paused. "Umm kind of a lot." She grimaced. Being the daughter of Iron Man led to a rather irregular school schedule "It's ok though" She grinned "I'm in no hurry!"

Nat smiled. "Oh, okay, so if we're a bit late nobody will be surprised? Good." Turning to Wanda, she asked, "Are you good to go another mile and a half, Wanda? We can take a few more minutes if you need." Wanda stood up and stretched. "I think I can go. Do you have any water?" Nat pulled a bottle out of her pocket and looked at it. "Will...iced tea from last night work? It's a little warm, it's been in my pocket the whole time." She held it out to Wanda, who grabbed it and gulped down half of it. When she came up for air, she offered it to Sophie. "If you're really thirsty, it'll work, or I can drink the rest of it."

Sophie nodded in reply to Nats question. "It's ok. You can have it" She said to Wanda. "And I'm ready to go whenever you are" She felt strangely well rested, even after her long night

Wanda downed the rest of it. She waved the bottle. "What do I do with this?" Natasha motioned. "Just toss it on the floor. Nobody will be able to tell how long it's been down here after a couple of hours. Let's go." They set off again. After a sudden downhill slope, they came suddenly to a ladder. Natasha began climbing. "You two can go up with your special stuff."

Without thinking, Sophie wrapped her hair around the top wrung of the ladder, then pulled herself up and looked down to watch Wanda.
