It is taking a lot longer to load the ten eggs or hatchlings on the regular hatching page. It affects my other tab, which has the zone, and take the lag there and spikes it to 10 seconds. I've not ever had this bad of a problem while nurturing pets there.

I have even cleared the cache, and there was no difference. Usually would solve this type of problem..but alas..it hasnt. Will attempt to try another browser tomorrow if you havent found an issue

PS: ive noticed it really bad when changing options from Users who have nurtured my pets today, to Users who are online, and vice versa. I only use the Both option, or just eggs, or just hatchlings. I dont ever do All Pets, because, that is generally all laggy to begin with.

I've noticed some lag while nurturing recently as well. I'm usually not in the zone at the same time so I can't speak to that, but there's definitely been nurture lag.

"All Pets" is often slower than the other categories, yes. I've wondered if it's 'cos it's searching from a much larger pool of pets. I'd always assumed the slight lag while changing categories was just the search adjusting to its new parameters. But I suppose that could be worth looking into as well.

I've been having this lag issue as well. I too keep the fest zone open in another tab but that normally doesn't affect my nurturing. I noticed last fest I would have this issue also, but never before then. Sometimes the pet I'm trying to nurture will lag for several seconds before the pop-up goes away. Sometimes when I click on the pet the lag keeps the pop-up from appearing right away, though that is rarer.

Edit: Also wanted to add something. When I use the hatchery to nurture "those who have nurtured my pets today" I get lag when doing all or hatchlings. I have never had lag when doing that before, not even last fest did that. Nurturing eggs only is still almost instant to get the next set of pets no matter what the second parameter is set to.

This has been an issue for a very long time now. The algorithm for searching and finding Nurture-able pets is horrid - absolutely horrid. As the pet database tables continue to get bigger and bigger, this is just getting worse and worse.

It's also bad enough that it detrimentally affects the rest of the site's performance - such as exploring.

Unfortunately, I've yet to come up with a solid coding solution that would allow nurturing to function the same way while fixing the performance issues. I haven't solely dedicated my time to it, but I have looked at it from time to time to see if I can come up with a relatively quick solution and so far I haven't been able to.

Most likely, I am going to have to completely change the way nurturing works behind the scenes. It'd still probably be the same from the players' perspective - but it'd be entirely different coding.

That makes a lot of sense...lots of pets for sure. but it shouldnt be this bad with only 10 pets loading at a time? I dont know. It seems to be really bad in the morning, and in the evening, so, not totally sure whats going on.

Sounds like a massive undertaking for sure. And as more people come to play, there will be more pets being made, bred, etc. Is there even going to be a pet limit on site? What'll you do when it hits 1 billion pets? lol! If maybe people could help throw out suggestions it might spark a flame in your creativity. Im sure you'll come up with something, you usually do :P

It basically is parsing all 5 million pets and then the hundreds/thousands of pets you may have nurtured and then trying to come up with the appropriate list of 10 of the remaining thousands of eligible pets to return 10 to you. It literally could not be anymore inefficient if I tried lol.
