The year is 1364. The world of Ilumia is full of humanoid creatures, from humans, to elves, to goblins, to mermaids and sirens (there's a difference), to demons, basically anything you can think of there's a race for it. (Yes even hybrids. For instance an Eldrawf is an elf-dwarf hybrid.). Normal things happened. Trade, wars, famines, harvests, discoveries, inventions. Steampunk and magical were the two themes that defined everything. But that wasn't too important. No one really had extensive magical gifts.
However, there was one (or rather, three) things that set this world apart from the rest.
First, everyone, no matter what race, were assigned to an element. There were 6, light, air, water, earth, fire, and dark, in that order of importance. The closer to light you were, the better off you would be in life. Or that was how it was for decades. Dark elements were basically servants and peasants, lights were nobles. It was possible (but very rare) to have two or more elements, the rarest being the ability to have all 6 elements. If you were a Rainstorm (for that's what it was known as) you were practically royalty. If you just had two or more elements, well, that in itself had complications (but no need to discuss that now). The elements did little, if you had a fire element maybe you could light a small fire in your hand or a Light might never need a torch if he was good at his magic but it wasn't anything big. There were also some subelements, Spirit, Plasma, Lightning, Poison and Mystery, but none of them reached the prestiege level of Light.
The second thing was that a select few also had what were called Gifts. These Gifts were sort of sub elements of Elements (e.g. an Air element might have the Gift of flying or a Dark element might have the gift of teleportation) and usually appeared randomly, no genetic cause came from it.
And the third thing was...well, it was a revolutionary way of thinking. It was the mentality that all elements were equal A crazy thought. Why should anyone believe that? Things had been fine for years.
But the country of Bildernia had started it. Their new king, Arceus Coreathius Marker III, was the first to propose it. No one knew why. But now the country was split. Some believed, some didn't. But King Aceus was insistent. He opened the schools and universities to all elements instead of just the top 4 elements. He got rid of the servitude of the Darks. And the most controversial change of all....he married a Dark Elemental and had children. That simply wasn't done in those days. But after some years, most started to accept that this was happening. Especially when the royal children started attending the main Academy instead of having tutors.
One thing was for certain: times were changing and things were about to get interesting
In this rp, the storyline will more or less follow a mystery format-there's a traitor in the class that's part of a group trying to overthrow the current king. One luck (unlucky?) person will be randomly choson to have their character become the traitor. I'll play some NPCs here and there but probably not really.
