I'm feeling miserable...I'm starting to think that my family and I will never get out of the apartment complex that we live in.

We are a fixed income/low income family, and we are under or at the poverty level for our area. If it want for the foodstamps and cash aid I get we would be totally screwed. My fianc gets a fixed income too...but our total combined funds don't really go that far...the cost of living has gone up, prices on food, diapers, cloths, and other needs are getting to be outrageous...

We do what we can to save up...but we can't save up to move...because if we try that we loose the income based rent option for good...and while there are some lovely places locally for rent/sale we have no way of affording to move.

Jobs are hard to get here, and with only my fianc avalible to work right now...it's going to take awhile for him to find a job. I'll gladly work from home selling my art, BUT it's illegal because I live in an apartment complex...unless I get written permition from the manager(I think), but I doubt that I'd get that...

In general I'm felling very hopeless, and very downtrodden...wishing that something good will come up...but unlike my friend next door...something good and awesome doesn't tend to happen for us...hardly ever.

Anyhow, thanks for reading.

Thanks, things are looking a tiny bit better now, but it's one of those wait and see if it stays getting better.

Thanks. The complex we live is gas been a constant source of problems...largely because of bad neighbors...and the fact that we can't do anything to make our unit better without permission/a work order for the maintenance man doesn't help things either.

The last time the maintenance man came in he said we needed a new toilette...but yet he wants to replace the blinds more...tell me which is more important...a new toilette or new blinds? My vote in on a new toilette.

That's exactly right! A fully functional bathroom is far more important then getting blinds put up in the main bedroom(especially when that window is already covered, and the blinds are junk anyway).

Have you thought about taking online classes to further your education? It's something you can easily do from home and financial aid is available through the government and grants.

Do you use coupons when grocery shopping? Those help a lot. Try going to a farmers market if there's one in your area. You'll save big on fruits and vegetables. Buy certain things in bulk when you can. It'll save you money in the long run.

Turn your AC up a notch. Even one notch up can save you big time.

Time your showers with a timer. Less water = more money in your pocket.

Wash dishes by hand.

Little things can really add up in the long run.

Man, I feel you. I wish there were something I could say that would make everything better, but alas. Just keep trying to get a job I guess.
