for hundreds of years, magic was on our side. keeping us safe, following strict rules, and doing little to harm the people. things have changed, magic has grown steadily more violent, forests over taking small towns so the inhabitants are forced to leave, animals refusing to stay in certain areas. mysterious deaths. and it inly grows worse as time continues.


The Queens of each kingdom have come together in one of the cities in Qadia to negotiate a solution, and they are have come to a decision that will change everything; sending a group of ten people to the one place in the world the magic cannot touch, the magicless forest.

no one who has entered the forest has come back to tell the forest, in fact, the forest is s dangerous that it is illegal to enter it. however, now it may be our only chance. this group of ten select individuals will be sent off into the forest with the supplies to build the first ever settlement in the magicless forest, and should they successfully do this, they will build a large tower in the center, with a fire on top, and burn it so everyone can see.

The kingdom of Qadia:

this kingdom, like most others, is comprised of one species. This species is the prymidea, a species of humanoid shapeshifters. Their main form is that of a human, with nothing being able to discern their species from any of the others. Their secondary form, however, is that of a cat. This can range within any type of domestic house cat, though not wild breeds.

the food here is very flavorful, with most traditional dishes being very spicy. this can be difficult for characters from other countries, as they do not have access to the same spices and therefore flavors as the inhabitants of Qadia do.

the people here live together with their extended families, with multiple generations living in one house hold. however, they do not care about bloodlines, with most families having multiple adopted family members in each generation.

Baecuria Empire:

this species is the only one whos inhabitants are not able to shapeshift. They are bound to one form; with the top half of a human and the bottom half of a snake. They are not cold blooded, but are inclined to prefer warmer climates.

the food in this kingdom is very mild, focusing more on nutritional value rather than appearance or flavor. the people here are focused on community, with large community gardens and community centers where people can get together and talk. they do not believe in families, simply choosing a new mate once a year and hiding their eggs in a secure spot, where they will join the community when they hatch.

Laedon empire:


the laedon empire is composed of two species; a form of shape shifter that shape shifts into some sort of bird, whether it be a tropical bird or something like a sparrow or woodpecker. and a breed of shapeshifters called Panthera onca, who shape shift into Jaguar. despite the massive differences in the species, the two get along very well and live together in the same cities, and even sometimes households.

the food here is made for beauty, with many brightly colored fruits making up the dishes, adorned with pretty garnishes. bloodlines are VERY important with these two species, with bloodlines being tracked religiously from mother to child.


Loterra Dynasty:

this dynasty is home to two species, both shapeshifters; the Hyaenidae and the Panthera leo. The Hyaenidae are a breed of shapeshifter that can shift into hyena, while the panthera leo are shapeshifters that shift into lions.

the food in this kingdom is made with love, with recipes being passed down from mother to child for generations, with an emphases not on taste, look, or even nutrition, the food is based on good memories and being made together with family. the families here are composed of two or three couples and their children living together in a village.

The magicless Forrest:



the magicless forest is not inhabited by anyone on account of the lack of magic. For some reason, the magic that controls the rest of the world refuses to settle in this area. The animals there are odd, they do not follow the rules of the rest of the world, they are not bound by the laws of magic.

I watch anxiously through the window, eyes locked on the horse-drawn carriage stopped in the street. Its massive, fitting four people comfortably while the queens inside try to come to a decision. Its soundproof, so I cant hear anything happening inside.

Erika comes up behind me, putting her hand on my shoulder to still me. calm down she chides, giving me a sympathetic smile you being all excited is not going to make the decision come faster, it is important that our queens take their time to come up with a good solution.

I sigh. Thousands had flocked to this very area for the same reason us included. The small hotel we had paid for a few nights in was almost fully booked when we had come with the gold for a room.

All four queens are here, valentina, amunet, amitola and even Baderinwa. the kings however, remained in their palaces. That doesnt make this moment any more momentous, the magic had been growing more and more unstable, we need a solution.


The once loud crowd which had formed outside fall silent as the door to the carriage slides open, and Queen Valentina steps out, brown hair framing her face, and the grim look on it. we have come to a decision she announces loudly, taking a deep breath. we have gathered the names of everyone in each of the kingdoms, and put them in a pot based on kingdom. We will draw two names from each pot, who will be sent into the magicless forest to form a city the magic cannot touch The queen says.

Theres a moment of silence, before the crowd all begins talking at once. who do you think is going to get picked? I ask, looking up at her. I dont know, I guess well have to wait and see she shrugs. the queen will announce it when it is decided she adds, catching my annoyed look.

Thema stayed silent, her nerves where shot and had no clue what to do at all, she watches the others silently before moving her attention to something else

Caspian
I fidget nervously, glancing though the (much taller) crowd and catching a glimpse of the queens. I gulp. This moment will probably make history, and here I am. Just Caspian. It's nerve-racking, to be honest.

Thang

The Baecuria remained quiet, his red eyes glued onto the pot, waiting for the names of those chosen to be said by his queen. He was nervous about it and subconciously, his tail curled in the ready to strike position most snakes adopt in stressfull situations.

it is another half hour before the Queens exit the carriage once more, Queen Valentina holds a large scroll in front of her, sealed with the Queens personal seal. she cracks the seal, unfurling the scroll. she takes a deep breath, before beginning to read.


"Arden Caelum, Caspian Loterra, Thang Baecuria, Alastor Maine Walker, Malis Python Cross, Thema Laedon, Angelo Loterra and amaria Kyrn, you have been selected to take the Journey into the Magicless forest, please make your way to my carriage if you are here. anyone who is not here by the end of the hour will be tracked down by one of our servants" the Queen says, clasping her hands infront of her.

my eyes go wide, and my heart begins race. she could not have said my name, right!? no way!?

Angelo looked at the queen nervously but he did hear his name, Thema stood up and looked around, she knew no one she was paired with but she thought maybe it could help on this uncomfortable time, she walked the the carrier Angelo shortly behind her letting her climb in first

Caspian sighs in relief.....
and then realizes what she just said. "Wait, WHAT?" He yelps, heart pounding. No, no nonononono! This can't be happening!

His eyes widen as he stiffen out of shock, he knew nothing about the others cultures so the new path his life just took was like he had awoken out of his egg again, thrown back at the wilderness to learn on his own. Knowing that there wasn't anything he could do against it and with a resigned sigh he slithered his way to the carriage toward his new life.
