just do battles and you get it

you get it from missions and story progression as well. :)

Battles, missions, story, etc.. they r called advancement points, so u get them by advancing in the story

(this would go in Q&A forum btw)

Also i believe you can get AP from nurturing and breeding as well but that may have changed-Ill have to do a bit of chexking but i believe that is the case.
