it says i have 1 privet message when i don't have any unread ones, and i know it isn't a big deal but it bugs me.

Iv found that I get the message notification if i have a friend request sent to me. Normally they go away after I accept/decline the friend requests and reload the page.

it didn't, i don't have a request, i even went to the extent of deleting 20 pages of my messages, but it didn't help, i will try shutting down my computer

Which notification are you looking at where it displays that you have an unread message?

The symbol at the top, like when you go to the home page it has the little scroll, it only comes sometimes then goes away, it has been ok today, and i am not sure if i jut had an unread message i didn't notice... but I had checked over my inbox a lot, and deleted a lot of messages, so i don't really know but..

That should always be entirely accurate to what's in your Inbox as it pulls data directly from your Inbox.
My best guess is you had an unread message in there that you maybe just didn't notice.

An unread message icon pops up when a user youve blocked has sent you a private message.
