I will be taking the server offline and restarting it in 10 minutes, at 7:50pm. This process will take 10-20 minutes.

Hopefully a fresh restart will help curve whatever is massively bogging down our database atm causing horrible site-wide lag.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one experiencing that I was about to disassemble my computer to see if I gave it a bug when cleaning.

I admittedly don't know much about programming, networking, server interface, or basically computers in general, but have you considered nightly downtime, if not at midnight server, then like, 3 AM? I know your database holds a heck of a lot of information- it would have to. I'm constantly surprised by how much it remembers. It's like, everything. I feel like it probably clogs up the server's processors or something? Even if it's just some temporary fix, a daily band-aid on a seeping wound... iunno. I'm sure you've thought about it before.

The site always just runs so smoothly, at least for a bit, after a restart. Sometimes I almost wish I went CS or IT.

Restarting the server doesn't clear any data from the database. But, like a computer, it purges all of the cache files, wipes all active connections, etc. Similar to how restarting a computer clears all active programs and whatnot.

When I restarted the server, I also ran something to clean up the database which I ultimately think was the main issue. I could have done this without restarting the server, but it would have caused some issues as it takes 5+ minutes and pretty much locks out the database during that time.

Over time, I learn how to take better care of our server. I knew literally nothing a year ago lol. So as time will go on, I'll learn more on how to properly maintain everything and when certain tasks need to be done.

You're just trying to help and I appreciate that. No reason for that. =)
