this could be an update i'm just not aware of but i had some frost tokens and other old event things laying around, ones that hadn't melted yet and they're gone from my inventory now. i'm not sure when they disappeared, as i don't look at that tab much, possibly around the beginning of this event but i know they were there in july

Last year, Krin announced that old fest items would no longer expire and be worth money. They would simply disappear after the ending of their fest. Items that we already had at the time would still expire and could be sold for cash but from that point on no new items we received would do the same. He announced this after Summer Fest 2019 so Summer Fest 2020 was the last fest where it was possible to sell old items for money.

So any items you kept from Fall Fest 2019, Winter Fest 2019, Spring Fest 2020, Summer Fest 2020, and any future fests will, at some point, disappear from your inventory never to be seen again. From what I can tell they don't disappear after any set period of time. They just disappear whenever Krin remembers to do so. What likely happened is that Krin finally got around to getting rid of your old items.

Festival limited tagged items should now self-delete 2-3 weeks after the date that's indicated on the item. They basically should be deleted on the first Monday after it's been at least 2 weeks past the expiration date.
