If a pet has a visible trait but that trait isn't carried, is it possible for that pet's offspring to inherit that visible trait?

Not sure exactly what you mean. Genetics here are based on a basic punnett square.
Babies get one letter from each parent for each trait slot. If one parent has a visible trait and the other has nothing at all in that trait slot, then no, there is no way the baby will get a visible trait. The other parent has to have at least a carried trait for there to be a chance at a baby with a vis trait.
Just keep in mind, pets have to be genetically tested in order to see carried and hidden traits.
