In the breeding generator, the preview doesn't color the babies wings or tail.

I noticed that the crystals when you find a griffi egg I think also don't color. Here's kinda what the pick-up screen showed:

I think it's because the wings use the mutation 3 slot and mutations don't show till the pets are adolescent. That's why the wings aren't colored...I think.

Krin already fixed it. ^^ It would show on the other generators, and the babies do have that color visible.
