what exactly is it? and how do you get the special pets from it?
and before anyone asks, yes I did read the forum all about the fall festival. I just still don't get it.

It's a festival full of fun activities and all sorted of goodies! New avatar items, and awesome events! You'll probably be able to capture the new breed in the Winter Festival Zone.

The winter festival also has not started yet. Its starts on Tuesday, December 17th
