Hmm it's not too bad but it doesn't have a lot of contrast, its just all one colour and sometimes using different shades isn't enough. Try adding a small accent colour and maybe varying the lightness and darkness.

Honestly, it's hard for me to rate without a reference.

It seems to be too brown. I like the variety, yet it gives me a wood vibe.

Is the blue supposed to be water? It seems a bit too light.

I really like the oranges, as they look like crabs. Possibly you could turn them into shells?

I was also thinking of using the orb (g3 and m1) as water highlights.

Edit: You should try experimenting with traits. You would ideally want it to look good with the Ferrikki's trait selection.

Both your male and female use the same traits. Why not show how other traits look on the female?

That looks better but maybe make the blue a slight darker?

the design in itself is nice but it realy have more of a automnal woodland feel to it, if you want to stick to the the themme of the name maby using a deep blue for the eye color and a pale yellowish coloration for their feathers instead of orange would bring more of a beach feeling to the design. ^-^
