Messa woke up and got dressed as if it was any other day. She knew it wasn't, deep down, but the world didn't stop for no one, and today was no different than yesterday. Well she might have picked out a nicer dress than usual...

It was dark brown silk, the color of rich soil, and a gift a foreign traveler had given her last year. Her parents always scolded her for letting such aimless strangers into the castle, but she didn't see the harm. A petty thief could only fit so much in their pockets, and Messa always made sure to never stray too far from the guards when talking. Besides, the stories they told were well worth the risk. No Jester she'd ever met could weave such elaborate and gut-wrenching tales of adventure and misfortune.

This dress was by far the most expensive-- and the largest gift a peasant had given her, and in her opinion had the right to be placed among all her other gowns. The shiny brown silk was layered in ruffles ontop of a heavier powdery brown cloth underneath, she kind of thought it made her look like a giant chocolate truffle. (She was okay with this and even thought it was funny.)

As soon as she lost the maids she snuck off to the courtyard. Breakfast? She'd skip it, there was supposed to be a party tomorrow anyway, she still wanted to fit in her dresses! Besides, she wanted to be there the moment the guests arrived.

Alexander stared out the window at the fast-moving carriage, approaching the castle. They'd been traveling for quite a while now, and it made sense. His own kingdom capital was quite far from the neighboring one. He let out a soft sign and leaned back, as his white-blue hair fell over his eyes. He leaned on the carriage door, extremely bored.

He was to apparently be engaged to the...princess, he thought, of this particular kingdom. Now all he had to do was meet the girl and marry her in half a year's time. So he basically had 6 months to get to know and attempt to like this woman. Although that was unlikely. He had 0 luck when it came to the opposite gender, despite being a prince. But he preferred it that way anyway.

He looked back out the window as they went into the castle gates, glancing at the guard as they went by, then turning ahead to look at the castle. There was another carriage riding ahead of him, with his parents in it, so he didn't really have a good view.

Messa stood up from her seat on a bench as she heard carriage wheels rattling in the distance, the rhythmic sound of horse hooves accompanying it.

She left the pile of flowers she'd picked on the bench and smoothed out her dress. Her parents rounded the corner shortly. Right on time.

"Messa, good heavens where have you been???" her mother exclaimed. Messa opened her mouth to say something cheeky but her mother cut her off with a shake of her head and a wave of her hand. "Not now, we'll talk later."

The royal advisor gave her the stink eye over his shoulder and she childishly stuck her tongue out at him. Whatever, she didn't care if her disappearance had caused a bump in his perfect planning. She was the one who had to get married to this bloke, not him. She was her parents only child, their daughter, and they were just infatuated with the idea of marrying her off to a bigger kingdoms court.

She obediently stood next to her mother and father though, a well practiced movement. Well, she curled a lock of hair around her finger idly. Atleast their standards were high enough not to marry her off to some lowly noble.

The carriages came to a stop in front of the castle, his attendant opening the door. He had to duck as he got out the carriage, looking around. He really wanted to stretch, but that would be improper of him. At least at the moment. He glanced over to his mother and father, who had gotten out of their carriage too. Alexander walked over and stood by them as they approached the group. He felt a little odd for his height, especially noting that his future bride was considerably shorter than them. He really knew how father felt when he had first gotten introduced to his mother.

Messa watched the elder royals exchange pleasantries for a second, curtsying when mentioned she smiled and said hello. And then she slide her eyes over to her future husband. Gaze confidently meeting his, right in the eyes, even through the height difference.

She sneakily gave a smug wave of her fingers.

He stared at her for a couple of seconds before glancing at the pair of kings and queens. It was weird. Women usually avoided him for some odd reason, and this was the first time one hadn't immediately avoided him. Although he's never been to a foreign country, and all other foreign women come to his country

Nonetheless, he didn't question it. He looked back at her and gave her a faint smile.

The pair of kings and queens started moving, and honestly Messa didn't know where they were going or what they were doing. She hadn't been paying attention. Oh well it didn't matter, she followed along behind them anyway. Nobody had turned on their foot and left yet so she assumed that ...ah hm what was his name...Alexander she thought a maid had told her? She assumed Alexanders parents had deemed her 'good enough'.

She kept watching the prince (it was probably getting creepy at this point). He had really nice hair, it was so light in color.... is kind of looked like a cloud. She giggled at the thought, not caring if it made her look creepier.

Most of the people in her kingdom had very plain hair colors, including herself, but were known for having unique eyes and eye colors. Her own had once been described as looking like swirling poison.

He, who actually had been listening to the conversation, began following the parents. He didn't mind that the princess was continuously watching him, He wasn't going to tell her to stop, because that would've been rude. Although after she giggled, he wondered what she had been thinking about to make her do so. Women in his country only giggle when flirting or something like that, but he knew she wasn't trying to flirt with him. At least, not right now.
