So I've got a question: What are peoples opinions on inbreeding their pets, or purchasing/breeding with inbred pets? I mean, obviously, in real life, that would be a terrible thing, but here on Sylestia where that doesn't matter quite so much, do people not like inbred pets? Do they not care? What are the opinions?

I'm pretty sure most people don't care at all about inbreeding, since it doesn't cause any harm in the game. But I could be wrong.

The general opinion on inbred pets is.... apathy. That's not to say that there are those who don't like it on the site... it's just a very small minority. Inbreeding is unavoidable in most projects and doesn't affect the pets anyway.

As far as real life goes... there's probably a lot more inbreeding in your pets than you're aware of. Some dog and cat breeds were created by breeding just a few related individuals. Too much inbreeding can cause health issues and indeed, many pure bred cats and dogs have such issues. That's not even taking into account animals like rabbits that don't care at all whether they're breeding parent to child. They just want to breed like... well.... rabbits. But I digress. ;)

Good to know, I just was unsure if I should keep my inbred pets or try only for pure ones. Knowing that people don't care though is useful, though I'll be honest, I feel like the inbred bar maybe shouldn't be there unless there's a purpose for it, like some event or game upgrade to where it would matter. :P

If I remember correctly, it was put there by request ages ago. It's there because some people like to see it.

Honestly, adding a game purpose would only cause issues, it would discourage breeding projects and this woudn't be beneficial for anybody. From my point of vew, it's just a small 'did you know ' about your pets and adding anything on top of that would be too mutch.

Most universally loved canines are inbred.
