That is correct.
I actually do plan on changing this, but not until I can get Avatar Item Excludes available in the Wishlist.
I would hope so, but atm my time is exceptionally thin so I can't 100% promise it.

You can remove items from your wardrobe and put them back in your inventory by pressing the little red minus in a circle in the corner of the item icon in the wardrobe.
