Welcome!!!
I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE D&D. I thought I might make a thread thats sole purpose is to talk about it and share jokes. As always follow the general forum rules while making posts, because I know how crazy D&D can get some time so... Don't post anything you might consider inappropriate!
I'm down with anyone telling stories, fails, jokes, or creating some of you're favorite characters in the wardrobe and showing off.
I guess I'll start with a story from my current campaign. We have a furbolg merchant that sells magical items and apparently has some incredibly deep lore that we don't know about yet. The most fascinating part about him is that is shop is in a cave in the middle of no where, but is magically able to appear anywhere. Even in completely separate cities. His name is Mugwump.

Hello! I have never played D&D but am very interested in it. I'm planning to get a starter kit soon! Anything I should know that would make my experience better? Also, I love looking at D&D fail stories they're funny ^^

It's nice to see so many new people getting into the hobby. I would recommend joining a club, or finding a group that you work well with. Nothing is worse than having two players who just don't like each other. As for fail stories I have a couple really good ones. This one in particular happened to me last week. In my current campaign we have a recurring boss. So far we've managed to beat him every single time. However this last time he managed to sweep the entire party, but everything's okay since that was kind of supposed to happen.

I already have a group together we just need the starter thingy. Funny story XD. I'm glad that it's ok though I've heard of really long campaigns ending because something like that happened.

I kind just wanted to share this but i'm this adorable Goblin Warlock of Cuthulu in one of my campaigns and we got stuck on the island from the call of cuthulu cause my DM is living for the Cuthulu stuff.Anywho's we meet this dude,who I end up freaking out since.My character was raised on this island.She tried counting his teeth for scurvy.But she doesn't know how many teeth a human has.And We got a Cat-Fish thingy with legs that we named Yahtzee.
~~~
From my perspective as a DM,first time too.
I have a party of 5.A drow cleric,Gnome,And three dragonborn.One being a wizard,another a wild mage and I don't remember the last one but they've got a Noble background.But I pretty much had them kidnapped to meet each other.And they ended up burning down half of a traveling camp of drow,pissing of the leader a bit and making her baby Hydra nervous
and since we never finished their character sheets next time we'll actually do a battle
Haven't played as often as I would like as my group has some pretty weird work schedules. But from the sessions I have played I have became known as the person who loves character quirks or little weird character details.
My first character was a female dwarf fighter with a beard, who didn't really talk that much and was much more focused on escaping the dungeon she found herself in alive than caring about the party. My second character was a halfling ranger, who liked to craft different things and paint her armor with different designs for a stress relief due to the horrors of war. However, none of her artwork or crafts were any good.
At some point, a big campaign might be started in the future. But for now I get my D&D fix through watching Critical Role and other d&d streamers.
