Welcome! ^^
It's really cool you are making a open species! Just make sure you make some sound guidelines for it so no one twists the species image into something you don't want. Like how Dutch angel dragons don't have specific organs or body parts.
And I watch Pocari too!

I am personally not a furry. To be honest I used to resent them and saw them as weird and a different part of society. Since joining this game, Ive made a lot of furry friends who have helped me realize (unknowingly) that furries really are just people who like dressing up as animals for the most part, and have specific animals they prefer to dress as or make artwork of. It is no different to how I cosplay my favorite anime characters or draw them. And for those who dont cosplay, it is no different from dressing up for Halloween as Katniss Everdeen or Luke Skywalker or whoever you want to dress as.

Since realizing these things about the furry community I have... somewhat struggled. I still feel slightly resentment when I hear the word furry, but I think it is for a different reason now. I think I resent it because I want to be one, but at the same time I dont.

I want to be one in the way that I think I want a fursona, but I dont want to be thought of as a furry. I dont know how to explain it, its not that Im scared of being part of the community due to the negative implications society has labeled it with. I really dont know. But I have conflicting views about seeing myself as a furry.

So I am posting on here, hoping to get some help figuring out exactly what I think and want, and how to go about doing that, as well as having my questions answered.

Wow that was... A lot.
Okay so, if you want to be a furry and don't want all the complications, you don't really need to tell people you are one or come out as one. It could be something you keep to yourself and possibly do here with us!
And your right the furry fandom is like anyone else's fandom. Every fandom is unique and special and has its own thing it does. It's kinda sad that people label us as weird and gross. We are just another fandom and if you want to join us we will welcome you with open arms. OwO

Of course! ^^
Fursona is the combination of the two words 'furry' and 'persona'. This refers to a (normally furry), character, persona, alter ego, avatar, or identity assumed by a person or player normally associated with the furry fandom.
Most furries create for themselves an anthropomorphized animal character (fursona) with whom they identify and can function as an avatar within the community.

So I could make a fursona but only consider myself a furry online? I dont intend to get a fur suit or make my fursona a large part of my life, just to share with some people online. So would I still be able to be seen as not a furry in real life?

I realize some of what Im saying could be considered rude, that is not my intention. What I say is just how I feel about and I would like to be identified as... somewhat a part of the community.

Don't worry your not being rude!
Being a furry doesn't have to be a full-time thing. Really all it is is a hobby. Many people have this as a strictly online thing and that is perfectly normal!

I'm sorry if this isn't the place, but what is a furry? And what's the difference between a furry and a anthro? (I think that's the word??) Honestly a lot of the art is nice. Which is why I found out about furries in the first place.

This is definitely the right place to ask!
A furry is a fictional (make-believe) animal character who has human traits, like walking on two legs or talking. People who like this art are also called furries, and together they make up the furry fandom. Another word for furry is anthropomorphic, which means "people-like."
An anthro is, technically, an animal that can: a) walk upright, b) talk, or talk somewhat, c) has human features, d) has the bone structure of a human, with some of its animal counterpart
