(WIP)

The first time it occurred, it was on a rainy day. At first, everyone thought it was a late aftershock. After all the the earthquakes that went on in California, it was plausible. No one took notice to them after that. Then, on new years day, it happened. After 50 years of being doormat, the phantoms stroke. Dropping massive bombs on all of the U.S. Everyone rushed to get to safety, but no where was safe. The bombs made anyone who came in contact a phantom. As I ran through the streets, I saw phantoms devouring people. Mauled human corpses laying on the ground. I continued to run, avoiding anything and everything in my path. Straight into the forest, I heard no signs of them following me. I turned, and saw a village. Looking around, I realized that I was no where near the city. People-if I could even call them that-Some of them had ears of animals, others had wings. It was weird. They stopped and stared at me in shock. I took a couple steps forward, and then I blacked out.

When I woke up, I was laying in a bed. But...I was also chained up. I could move my head, though. There was a man on my left. He looked like a phantom, but kinder. I wasn't scared though. Why? He noticed I had woken up, and stood, then left. I wonder if their survivors. Banded together here. I studied my surroundings. No, they couldn't be. Unless they had known this would happen, and prepared beforehand. Theres medicine on shelves, all organized neatly.
