I'm going to try to get some pictures of my girls being crazy chickens and I'll send them to you to keep your spirits up, if you want. Do you have any names you want to give any of them, or do you not want to in case they'll die? How many are left?

I named mine all after Harry Potter characters. There's Dumbledore (about the quirky-ist chickens you'll ever meet), Ginny, Hermione, Tonks, Pigwidgeon, Hedwig, and Luna.
I really hope none of your other chicks die. Losing that many's enough. I'm aethiest so I'm not going to pray for them but they'll be on my thoughts.

This happened to me when my family first got chicks. We lost well over half. It was half out fault because we had them in a cold place with a small heating lamp. Most of my favorites died. While we were in the US ((im Canadian)) for a vacation not to far from home, we got more chicks, about 26? We never lost one, and they were cheap. They even survived for 4 hours in a moving trailer. Some have died since then, but they are healthy and love to run around our backyard in the day. And a tip for raising chickens for eggs, DO NOT LET THEM MOLT. We let them and lost 3 of them not to long ago.
I hope the rest survive.

Thanks but that's clearly not our problem they have plenty of heat and a place for them to cool off we have clean water also. We are now thinking that they have a disease.
Question: How do you stop chickens from molting?
molt
[mlt]
v.) molting (present participle)
(of an animal) To shed old feathers, hair, or skin, or an old shell, to make way for a new growth
