Undarlegts History
Undarlegt has 4 kingdoms. They have been at peace for 1000 years. Very little is known about the last war. It is said there was just one known kingdom at that time. On the kings deathbed he split the kingdom among his 4 children. They began 4 new kingdoms.
After their fathers death, the oldest came to despise her younger sister, the supposed favorite of their father, for she had been given the most land. She waged war on her.
From there it is all speculation. After this war is when angels, star caretakers and Night Monsters appeared for the first time. Some believe they were somehow the making of the two sisters.
No one is really sure if either of the sisters returned to rule or if it was just their heirs who took over. History is rather unclear at that time and no one is alive to recall it.

Notes About the World
.This does not take place on Earth
.It is not modern, no super fancy technology, it is in a more or less a medieval time period
.There are not dragons, or unicorns or anything like such
.There are no known kingdoms in the surrounding area. It is almost like a huge desert so the kingdoms dont even try to spread out that way. Those who try to go out that way normally dont get far before coming back.
.The only bit outside the kingdoms that isnt desert is a rather misplaced mountain, it is usually rather stormy towards the top

Ranks
Royalty- Anyone born or married into the royal family of one of the 4 kingdoms.
Star Caretakers- Special people capable of harnessing the power of fallen stars. A star will react when a caretaker is near. The caretakers are trained from birth to do their job. They dont usually get married as they are often too busy.
Angels- People who, at around the age of 10, begin to grow a set of wings, usually white and feathered like you would imagine an angels. They often become personal guards to the royals or are married to one.
*Star Caretakers and Angels to not pass on the gene that makes them special. They are also very rare. Caretakers more than Angels.
Advisors- They advise the current ruling royal. They are never Angels or Caretakers. Normally they are a close friend to the current ruling royal.
Guards- Someone who protects the kingdom and enforce the laws.
Commoners- Someone who works a regular, well paying, job. Examples might be a baker, blacksmith, teacher, etc.
Elderly- Someone too old to work.
Children- Too young to begin work.
Servants- The poor who work horrible jobs that do not pay nearly enough.
Law Offenders- Someone who broke a law. Their name is forever ruined. Once serving their sentence, they would be treated almost like servants, except considered even less important.
Night Monsters- They turn into some sort of animal at night. They are considered lower than even criminals, except for murders. Most are afraid of them. If they commit even the smallest crime, they can be sentenced to ANY sort of punishment, even execution. They are usually not aloud in certain places. They are never allowed at the peace festivals. Depending on the royal, they may not be allowed at the royal coronation. Often people dont like them at funerals, it is considered disrespectful to the dead. Zvezda even has Night Monster children raised separate from everyone for the safety of other people. Most Night Monsters dont even attempt to go to
school.
*Like angels and Star Caretakers, they do not pass on any genes that make them Night Monsters if they were to have kids.

Kingdoms
Myrkur- Said to be where the Night Monsters are from. No one has ever crossed their borders and returned alive. The only to return alive are the royals who come for the Peace Festival. They will bring with them any found bodies of trespassers to return to their loved ones. These royals are very hated. No one outside the kingdom knows what it is like or even how big it is.
Zvezda- Known for the the highest rate of star falls on their territory. They are likely the richest kingdom. However they have very few caretakers.
Perang- This kingdom is very proud of their military. Most of their citizens train for war from the day they are able to walk.
Apik- There are many talented Artisans here. They pride themselves on their education. It is a kingdom filled with art, music, dance and literature. One of a kind works are easy to find.

Traditions/Ceremonies
Birth- When a child is born, almost immediately after birth they are presented before a star to discover whether or not they are a caretaker. If they are not, they are then sent home. If they are, they are aloud one week with their true parents and are then taken to begin training for their future job.The parents are paid yearly for their sacrifice and allowed one week a year with their child till they are an adult.
Angels Ceremony- If a child begins to show signs of being an Angel, they are celebrated. The parents are praised for raising an Angel and there is a feast given in the childs and parents honor. The child then chooses if they which to join the guard or
Engagement- After the announcement of the engagement of two people, there is a sort of ceremony. The soon to be grooms family hosts it. The bride is recorded into the grooms family history. After the ceremony, the groom and bride are not allowed to be alone in the same room till the wedding.
Royal Coronation- When the current ruling royal dies or finds themselves incapable of ruling, they pass the crown on to their child. There is a week of feasting and celebration before the actual coronation. The advisor under the previous royals rule hands off the crown to the new ruling royal. The royal then chooses their advisor, they can not be an Angel or Caretaker. The royal then begins their rule.
Peace Festival- A festival held every 5 years while the royals join together to talk about current matters. As this goes on, the citizens of every kingdom join on common ground to celebrate with games, plays and other such things. Night Monsters are normally excluded from it.
Death- Death brings mourning. Often those close to the dead will wear all black for a week to express their mourning.

Punishments
Murder- Almost always results in execution. Royals are they exception. Unless they have murdered multiple people, they are usually just banished or given a life sentence to jail. If they have murdered many, then they will be executed, just not publicly. Sometimes royals provide amnesty to murders, though rarely.
Theft- Usually the thief is required to pay off what they stole. If incapable of doing so, they either choose doubled sentence or have to work to pay it off then serve their sentence.
Betrayal- Since there hasnt been a war in so long, betrayal is uncommon. It is usually a life sentence in jail if ever anything similar to betrayal of the kingdom occurs.
Keeping a Caretaker- If a mother and father refuse to give up their caretaker child, they will be forced to give it up (violently at times), lose the money and the privilege of time with their child.
Mistreatment of a Royal- If a royal is in some way disrespected, the person who disrespected them may be given time in jail. If they are of high ranking, they may be demoted.
Night Monsters in Places they are Not Allowed- While technically not a huge offence, they often will get the maximum punishment besides execution. It still depends on the circumstances and where it happened.

Personality: she is super cheerful, talkative, and energetic. She loves everyone she meets. She is, for the most part, well behaved, doing as she is told. This doesnt mean she wont bend the rules sometimes.
Backstory: She is her parents first born. She is likely going to assume rule but she cant until she is married. Her parents are planning on marrying her off to an angel from another kingdom, probably around the next peace festival.

It is possible for them to get two, but there isnt any recorded, and for simplicitys sake, lets not have any like such. Caretakers also live to the same age as anyone else. Otherwise, so far so good.

Saerien has a kind soul, but his mouth can sometimes get him in trouble. He likes other's company, but not if they treat him as being below them.

Strangely, Saerien didn't begin transforming until well into his teen years. He was immediately thrown out of training and shunned by his friends. He fled to the woods, where he set up camp in a hollow. Not long after he'd disappeared, people began finding the corpses of animals that looked like they'd been savaged by a giant bird.
