There's already a system in place to prevent people you don't want buying your pets from buying your pets. The 'Sell to User ID' function. You want to place your pet for sale but don't want certain people buying it off Advanced Search? Set up a thread and see who's interested. Sell only to those interested. Advanced Search is public for a reason and we'd hate to see that ruined.
Blocking people from threads would also be a terrible idea. Let's just take the suggestion box subforum into account: say you make a suggestion. Instead of letting anyone comment and voice their opinions, you block everyone who disagrees with you. Now Krin has a biased, uneven suggestion that looks popular when in reality it would not be. Even outside it there's no real point; if someone is being inappropriate on your thread then you can always either flag it or report it to the admins and have them handle it.
You can already block people from sending you unwanted PMs, and we think that is enough.

Agreed with Tori. There are already systems in place to deal with inappropriate behaviour on the site and selling to only chosen people. When you sell publicly, you sell publicly. There are far, far too many ways a system of blocking people from this or that could be abused. If you are having trouble with a particular user, it is best to report it to an admin and let them deal with the issue.

how bout a compromise system? No blocing on suggestions but blocking for certain things. No block onadvanced search but messaging can be blocked/friending.

Messaging can already be blocked. So can pings.
