I'm trying to figure out battle system and realized I have no idea what to do with AP. I think I've gathered from the Proficiency tutorial that I should be allocating them to my battle pets but everything on their page is greyed out except for the Element part and one "weapon?" button. They are level 21. I see that things happen at level 30. Do I just need to wait till then? Thanks for any insights.

For AP, you can earn them by battling. I've seen them being acquired in a different way but I don't remember what it was xP You can use them to unlock new hair styles, mouths, eyes, noses, etc. in the wardrobe. You can also use them for buying design slots, and when you acquire 10,000 AP you can get a Stable Hand.
For Proficiency points, you earn one to allocate when your pet reaches a certain level. You get one at lvl 0, 30, 60, 65, and I think 70. So yes, you'll have to wait until your pet levels up. And by "weapon button" did you mean attacks? You'll unlock more when your pet reaches a certain level too, check the Prof. page.

Your answer helps a lot. Thank you for taking time to answer. It is helpful to know all the things I can do with AP in addition to buffing my Party pets. I had no idea you could buy things. Also didn't know that was how you get a Stablehand.
Am still a little puzzled about the way to use them for pet levels. I have all of these blank (greyed out) buttons at the first level with only the first one lit up. I can see that I need level 30 to allocate the next Proficiency point but what about all the buttons for the level I'm at. I would think I would fill those in as I go along. I think what I want to know is how to increase in Rank. My level 21 pets are at Rank 1. How do I get to Rank 2?
Any help is much appreciated!
