(Quick message. Yes, I am still running the winter horror story. I'll post the responses to for everyone 12/29/2018 at around 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm after this. (Different time zones. That's earlier for me. I'm doing sylestia time) If you are participating in that, I'll respond soon)

(One more thing, This story has fight scenes and is decently descriptive. There will be wounds and blood. Most likely there won't be any extreme gore, but my judging system is slightly skewed so I'm going to be putting a warning before every fight scene. Some might call it overkill, but I want to give people to option to skip that stuff if they want to.)

A chilly wind sweeps over a lake, creating quiet ripples and the sound of shifting reeds. Willow tree branches lazily sway by the river bed as fireflies dance around. Oddly enough, all the fauna seems to be admitting a strange glow and the water seems oddly translucent. The only thing to disturb the quiet night is the rough breathing of a small Slyvorpa lying wounded by the shore. The small Sylesti lets out a soft whimper as they curl tighter around them-self. A small stream of blood from their wound begins to leak blood into the water. As they start to shiver and decide to try moving, a larger ripple appears on the lake as a rock is thrown in. The small blue sylesti freezes in terror, adrenaline running through their veins. Suddenly, a group of masked humans wearing black roughly snatch up the poor creature. It lets out a scream of pain as there wound is grabbed and their leg is twisted horribly.

Hi! Slight gore here!

Blood begins to run down their foot as the bone slices through the skin at a sickening angle. The sylesti screams again as black spots rush into their vision. The masked person who snatched them growls when they see the wound.

It was very short, and now it's over!

"Stupid Hatchling sylesti's, so easy to snap their damn bones like twigs" The man grumbles as he roughly shoves the whimpering creature in the bag tying it closed. The masked group quickly grabs the bag and melts into the forest, only leaving a blood stain, indent in the dirt, and footprints as proof they were there.

You wake up to the sun shining in your eyes with twigs and leafs poking your body. You let out a groan as you sit up confused. You open your eyes to look around, and your jaw drops. Your sitting next to a river with the sound of wind chimes seemingly coming from nowhere with [Sylesti of Choice] snoozing by your side. You look around and also see that the trees are glowing themselves and so are the plants around you. The water also seems oddly clear and looks like liquid glass. You see two paths, one leading to the forest and one that goes along the river. Which path do you take?

You carefully sit up, shaking Stari as you do. After rousing your sylesti, you observe the paths for a small moment. You decide to take the path by the river, and you quickly make progress losing sight of the clearing. After walking for about 30 minutes, you hear a branch snap and a thud. What do you do?

As you crouch down behind a bush, you hear a weak growl and scratching sounds. You peek through the leaves with your sylesti and see a purple Zolnixi. The Zolnixi quickly snaps their head to yours and stares at you. What do you do?

The Zolnixi looks warily at you for a few seconds before huffing. It walks over to you and begins to circle around, sniffing you and Stari. After a minute of that, it flops on your lap and begins to climb up your torso to rest on your shoulders. What do you do now?
