Genetic testing reveals carried (and hidden) traits. These are traits your pet does not show, but they can be passed onto offspring.
If your mutator "didn't work", then probably it was on a pet that isn't tested and it got a carry. If you get that pet tested, you should see an extra carry in the genetics.

You can find people doing it for free in this forum or you can go to region chat (that chatrooms button on the left of the bottom bar) and ask there. If you have more than 1 or 2 your best bet is probably the forum.
