At the moment, I am going slowly through my stables and releasing pets and realized that we are in need of a Mass Releasing.

Basically it would work the same but you can click on the pets in the stables page and then clicking confirm with the list of pets you have selected. There would be no entering names because uh, if you have 100 pets selected I don't think we should have to copy down all of the names lol.
Maybe just a couple buttons that would say are you sure. Or maybe you would have to enter your Username to confirm.

This would be super useful for when I need to release a big amount of pets.

I would absolutely support an option for mass-release; I breed in large batches and often have hundreds of tabs open of pets to release, and having to click and confirm each individually takes way more time than it should.

I release based on traits and stats, so a stable-based solution would not help. Visually, there is little difference between a carrier I wish to keep and one to release. A stable/visual release option would not be helpful since I'd then spend more time hunting down which stable each pet to be released is in than it would take to just click the confirm button.

Perhaps an option similar to the advanced search but limited to your own pets, where you can click a checkbox next to each pet to release which would be added to a release queue you could also search. That way you could preview everything about it; name, stats, picture; and also narrow down by search as needed, and just check those you want gone.

Something like this would be really useful, but I'd definitely want to see the stats and traits of the Sylesti I was trying to release first.

I just would be scared I'd release the wrong pet, even with a confirmation.

Though the trick I use for now--I'll right-click on the pet links I want to release in the stables and open up new tabs for each of them. Then I just go to each tab, release, close tab, etc.

I think the main issue with that that most people have experienced when releasing large numbers of pets is time. Like Asviloka said earlier, it takes tons of time to release hundreds of pets at once. So yes, your strategy can (and does) work, but the reason the mass-release has been proposed is to make things easier for players.

And if you'd be too worried that you'd accidentally release the wrong pet(s), you don't need to use the feature. Simple as that. :3

100% support this. We could have an "Enable Mass Release" button in the stables and hatchery.
