To start things off, I've found one-maybe two-guides on breeding projects and gene's and mutations... but I'm not sure where to start other than basic breeding to get the right colors where they belong... Any tips, breeding help or things to help get me started would be greatly appreciated!

So I have decided that I'm going to devote my time to four (4) species and what I want the final breeding pair of each to look like:

I personally find starting with essence to be the easiest way to do a project because it means the colours are mostly correct from the start. The minimum amount of essence you need is 3, but getting a fourth one is definitely worth your time. It's also cheaper I think, because you only need to buy a few essences, instead of at least 20 dyes, which are generally more expensive anyway. The one disadvantage is that it's slower than using public breeding and dye, and you do need a genetic testing kit to tell if traits have been passed on, but some people will test them for free in the forums.

When you generate the pets with the essence, make sure that you give them 2 carried traites (assuming you use regular essence), rather than 1 visible trait, and that between all of them they have every trait you want for the project.
Also, if you use 3 essence generate 2 males and 1 female. If you use 4 essences then do 2 of each gender. That way the breeding will be faster over the first two generations of the project (trust me, I did it wrong the first time).

How far into the projects are you? I have three qitari essence, which I can't give you for free, but I could sell to you for 5k gold each, which is about a quarter of the brocker price.
