I completed Jinxie's quest for capturing a sylestie but when I wanted to put it in my party, I was told it was too powerful (lvl. 10).
Before I do anything, I just wanted to know: how do I become able to control higher level pets? (My other pet is lvl.8, if that has anything to do with it)

@Trickstermattie,
Yup! You're pretty much spot on once you mention the pet/user level! Pets that are higher than your user level, which can be found on your page, cannot be used in battle until your User level is level 10 or higher. Also, You need to buy an extra pet slot if you want an additional party member :>
So once your user level is 10+, then the sylesti will be able to be tamed :> Hope this helps!

use your pet who is the same level as you. As your pet levels up, you level up. So once your pet you are currently using is level 10, then you will also be level 10 and able to use the pet you caught
