I know you can exchange currencies and buy diamonds with real money, but what other ways can you get diamonds?

The only way you can get diamonds, other than through the currency exchange or diamond shop, is if a player gifts them to you, or trades them for an item/pet/other that you own.

Basically as a trade or gift. Not many people are usually willing to gift diamonds, unless you are a close friend or there is a special occasion.

However, there are many people who would trade diamonds for Pets (usually exclusive themed or Forum Game pets), Avatar Items (depends on the person and rarity of the item), Philters, Art services (you can create art work for a player who is interested), and other items or services.

As your account grows and you get more items, pets and participate in more festivals, there will nearly always be someone who will be interested in various items.

Adding on to this explanation - if you win a Forum Game, sometimes the top prizes have diamonds in them. And they have shown up as free gifts in the Advent Calendar during winter fest, if I remember correctly.
