Welcome to Juriep Forest! reads the dilapidated sign nailed to an old oak. The only reservation for endangered Sylesties. Hunting is strictly prohibited. A bit to the right is the trail, which immediately disappears into the thick of it. You sigh, gripping the straps of your pack. It already feels as if it weighs a hundred pounds with all of your stuff, even though youve just landed. Turning your head to the sky, you can see your Ny'vene ride and somewhat-human guide turning into a speck against the clouds. Its too late to back out now. Besides, its been years since youve last visited your cousin Riv. It's not like he gets many visitors, as hes one of the only few foolish enough to be a warden for three hundred miles of unpopulated wilds. Hell be thrilled to see you, and it would be rude to let him down. It's not as if youll be stuck in the woods forever; he does, after all, own a quaint little home set by a vast lake. It'll be fun. At least, you try to convince yourself it will be, as you begin down the thin dirt path.

Here, the summer sun feels deathly hot, so the shadowy canopy provided by the towering trees brings mild relief. Though you arent the biggest fan of the outdoors, you have to admit, it is a beautiful change of scenery. Nearly every place you glance is teeming with life. Birds, rodents, even a small snake, sunning on a rock. Having seen few humans or none at all, the creatures do not seem bothered by your presence. In fact, you pass right by a little Faelora fawn and her mother who crane their necks out to gently sniff at your shirt.

You stop a few miles in to sit upon a rock and shuck off your pack. Rummaging through it, nudging your predator repellent and pocketknife out of the way of your water jug. For a few minutes, you simply breath and sip. It's not very cold, but water is water.

It's already past noon, and since time is of the essence, you put the water back and re-shoulder your pack. You continue onward.

The trail is partially covered by fallen branches and debris in places, which slows you down somewhat. Riv does care for the place- he set the trail, in fact- but you know he cant be in every stretch of land all the time. If you want to make it to the Deadfall Clearing before nightfall, youll have to pick up your pace. You don't want to fall behind schedule and be stuck out in the woods for more than two days.

It's a push, but jogging and briefly pausing for air seems to do the trick. You feel as if youve sweated out an entire lake, but by the time the edges of the sky are darkening, you see it, just down a hill. To the left of the sloping path is the old deadfall- a massive, moss-covered stone left by some hunter years before your birth. Whatever wood they had used mustve been from one heck of a tree, because weather and time have not yet caused it to crumble. You figure that, as long as you dont touch it, youll be alright.

As you reach the bottom of the slight decline, you carefully skirt around it and into the clearing. Its not terribly big, but at least the ground is flat enough for a tent. You dump your pack and unclip the smaller bag hanging to the front of it. Inside are the materials; you just have to put it together. It takes a few minutes, as its been quite some time since youve camped, but once it's set up, it looks okay. Kind of. There's a little tear in the fabric on one side, so you'll just have to hope the insects stay away tonight.

Having successfully put together your tent, you hastily gather firewood and arrange it a little ways away from the tent's door. Also in your pack is your flint and steel, which you grab. It takes a lot of strikes and careful puffs of air, but by the time the moon is visible, you have a modest fire.

The forest surrounding you has darkened considerably. While Riv enjoys the freedom of being alone, surrounded by creatures, you do not. You can hear the tittering of nightlife on all sides, which should be a comfort, but you do not take chances. That's what the predator repellent is for. A powerful mixture of Ny'Vene pheromones, it is sure to scare off any too-curious or too-toothy animals.

The can makes a lovely hissing sound as you spray around the perimeter of your campsite. Satisfied that you are now protected, you return it to it's place and pull out one of your five sandwiches. Why five? Who knows. You only now seem to realize how hungry you actually are, having only eaten breakfast. The sandwich is gone in minutes, and then, a second one.

Having eaten, you thoroughly douse your fire. It is dark, but the illumination cast by the full moon is bright enough that one might mistake it for morning. In fact, you can clearly see your own shadow.

You pull your pack into your tent and roll out your sleeping bag. Itll be a pain to re-roll in the morning, but as you quickly fade off to sleep, that is only an afterthought. Your first day of a long summer vacation has gone rather well.

Hello all, and welcome to Lolo's Interactive Story Game!

This story will follow a main character controlled by the readers, into the fictional forest of Juriep, a vast range of land unsettled by man and watched over by very few wardens. A seemingly peaceful haven, it is the perfect place spend a summer vacation. There's only one problem. The Doors. Doors of all colors, old, new, fresh paint and peeling, indicate handles, none at all. As there appear to be no other humans, no one can say when or from where they appeared...or what happens if you go through them. As you trek deeper into the unknown, you'll discover friends and foes, as well as a much madder, darker forces. Avoid them and escape with your life if you can, or dare to confront the forest's walking nightmares and seek their purpose.

This story game will rely entirely on you, the readers. You will guide the characters actions mainly by responding to Google polls. The goal is to keep alive and escape, or uncover the mystery surrounding Juriep Forest. There will be several small games such as riddle-solving and Pick a Number throughout the course of the story, as well as prizes of themed pets, some of my project pets, ferrikki, and more!

If you would like to be added to or removed from the ping list at any time for this interactive story, please send a PM!

Day Two

You jolt awake, the roar that rudely jarred you from pleasant dreams still reverberating though the forest. In a sleepy haze, you stumble out of your tent, pausing only to snatch up your predator repellent. It isnt the brightest decision, but in a half-awake state, you disregard the possibility of serious danger and head toward the sound.

The underbrush is thick, but you are more annoyed by whatever has disturbed your peace to care. Dawn has brought some light to the woods; not quite enough to break through the canopy above, but enough that you can see where the ground slopes steeply. As you reach this point, you realize there seems to be a commotion down below. You dart through the undergrowth with caution, slipping a bit on the decline.

Peering around the stump of a dead tree, you can see a pitifully small trickle of a stream, most likely having evaporated in the heat, and a large male Draeyl who appears to be snapping at something colorful hiding beneath a boulders slight overhang. Whatever hes trying to drag out is yipping and squealing pitifully. From what you can see, it looks like a hatchling of some sort. You have no idea what the heck a Draeyl is doing here, in a fairy cozy woodland, or why its trying to eat something so small. It almost looks like a fox kit, but You arent quite sure. The poor thing cries out again, and you wince.

It's just a hatchling, and surely they are easy prey in the wild, but you can't help but feel a tug toward the poor thing. However, the Draeyl is large and determined, armored spikes coating its rough back, and an intimidating clubbed tail thrashing back and forth, nearly licking the backs of its tattered wings.

Scare off the Draeyl and rescue the hatchling OR Flee the scene and return to camp

Vote here, the game will continue after most players have cast a vote.

Fantastic start! I absolutely love it and can't wait to see where it goes!

One small criticism, wouldn't he only have three sandwiches left?
Because you wrote that he packed five and ate two, which would leave three in the story but under "pack items" you have it listed as the player having four sandwiches.

Day Two - Continued

"Hey!" you shout, emerging from your cover.

=Displaced Draeyl=

The Draeyl whirls around, snarling. You can see blood glistening on its yellowed teeth. He lets out another roar, which tempts you to flee but you hold your ground. It takes a step toward you, but before it can advance any closer, you spray a hefty amount of repellent directly into its eyes and nostrils.

He stumbles back immediately, hissing and snapping blindly at the air as he attempts to wipe the residue from his face with wickedly curved claws. He ends up scratching himself, another furious hiss seeping through his teeth.

With a final roar, the Draeyl whirls around, quickly fleeing into the forest. Unfortunately, the clubbed tip of his tail catches you in the leg. The skin tears easily, and you feel the blood begin to flow. Your hand flies down to it automatically; it hurts like crazy but it doesnt look deep. Youll need to make sure it doesnt get infected.

As limp to the stream and rinse the blood off of your hand, movement catches your eye.

The kit.

It's huddled in the shadows, whimpering quietly; you've just caught a flicker of its tail folding under itself.

"Hey there," you speak softly, crouching down as best as you can. You don't have any food on you at the moment, but you offer a hand out. Hes gone. Youre safe.

Slowly and timidly, the little kit inches forward.

"Can I call you Kit?" you ask, offering a little smile despite the pain.

A petite snout appears, reaching up to sniff at your fingers. Gently, you reach out your other hand and pet the hatchling between the ears. It seems to like this, and to your absolute and utter disbelief, a scrawny Puffadore steps out from under the overhang.

Kit

Health Points: (1,000/5,000)
Effects: Lacerations
Location: Deadfall Clearing area
Abilities: Strong senses, danger detection

"How in world did you get out here?" you ask, patting his fur. He seems to have perked up after realizing you are not a threat. Checking the hatchling over, you notice several deep scratches across his back, most likely from the Draeyl's claws. The items in your first aid kit should be enough to treat both Kit and yourself.

Kit allows you to handle him, only yelping a little when your fingers accidentally brush the wound. You apologize, cradling his small frame to your chest. He's tiny enough to fit in one of your hands.

You carry him up the hill, bending slightly to snatch up your life-saving predator repellent. You'll have to buy more of this when you get back home.

The camp is just as you left it; the moment you set Kit down he begins sniffing around. He is oddly active and alert, despite having been abandoned in a forest and attacked by a large and frankly quite scary Draeyl.

While Kit prances in circles, you pull out the first aid kit. First, you treat yourself, sanitizing and cleaning the scratch before applying a large bandage. Next, you nab Kit; he struggles and fusses, so you placate him with one of your sandwiches. He settles down immediately, munching through the food.

As he busies himself in his meal (the sandwich almost looks as large as he is), you begin to clean the wound. He flinches a few times, but for the most part, is very well behaved. You are able to wrap a bandage around his midsection with no trouble at all. Riv will have better supplies at his house, including elixirs. You will be able to properly treat Kit there.

You re-pack the first aid items, and then begin to tear down camp while eating your own breakfast- another sandwich. It takes nearly a half hour, and by the time your pack is on your back and Kit is trailing behind you happily, the sun has risen halfway. The heat is already beginning to settle over the forest.

Every step makes your leg ache, but at least the trail is level and mostly clear. You make good time, despite the slight limp, and Kit lagging behind every now and then. After you share lunch and take a long drink, you continue.

Kit, tired, chews on your boot until you pick him up. He immediately falls asleep in your arms.

The landmarkers are becoming more and more familiar, and you know you are close. You spot a few jagged slashes near the bases of trees which means that you have entered the territory surrounding the lake.
