On the floating island of Aetheria, there is a tower, the Aetherium, where mages, the inhabitants of the island, go to learn. And on their collarbone is a small clear gem. This gem doesn't stay clear, though. Through learning and experience, it will change and grow with the young mage until it is fully coloured, signifying no more need for training. Thus, the time it takes to train a mage varies, from three years to over a decade. Brown, blue, purple, and orange represent the elements. Red and green are attacking and defending magics, respectively. Gold is the colour of healing magics. Black is a colour of good, all colours combined, and white is evil, a colour not seen until recently.

Mages of the island have personal towers, magically inclined to the tastes of the owner. They float separately, tethered by a long, long rope or chain. For example, a mage interested in plants may have their home tethered by a vine, and their tower, may be short, squat, covered in vines, with a live thatched roof. And it can change and grow, slightly.

New mages who have begun their mentoring will be given a patch of land tethered by a rope, just a big hunk of dirt. The apprentice builds themselves a round hut, and they return from the Aetherium to build it up more, integrating magic and charms eventually.

Mages also have a room in the 'attic' of the tower for those who wish top and have been physically accepted to be a master. They must be spiritually accepted and will 'dream' a particular animal that reflects them and create a grey-silver mask depicting it, very simplified.

But a mage went pale. Their crystal turned white. The mage, called the Unmasked, wanes to sever the towers and bring down the island, dunking it into the ocean below. Why? The greatest masters can't yet say, but one thing is certain. Three new apprentices will be everything.

Name: Anlann O'Connor (An lann means the blade, so I combined the two)
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Personality: Intellectual, sarcastic, disregard for rules despite wanting to always have good behaviour. Anger issues. She claims she hates the Unmasked more than anyone. Offense taken. Ambitious, Anlann is loyal to those she believes deserve it, and fiercely objective to all. Her sense of humour is what stone say is horrible, as she makes jokes that make people groan, but if she smiling, most can't help but smile with her.
Skills: She is adept at pyromancy, above the other three elements, and while her offensive magic is unpredictable and strong, she has surprising healing power. Also, Anlann inherited some ability to see lies and hopes to decide the fates of criminals.
Future Colours: Orange, red, gold swirls, black and white flecks, more black than white.
Future Tower: Ominous and of dark grey stone, scarlet glows in the cracks near the base, but they fade and the top is metallic, with clockwork and devices inside, a brass telescope, a clock, a forge. Anlann keeps a small study, and a training room. All wood is mahogany. The outside also has pillars near the top, holding the roof. This is where she keeps the telescope.
Appearance: Flaming red hair, hazel eyes, freckles, tomboyish appearance. Rough and tumble demeanor, but an infectious smile. Sometimes she keeps a small brass clip in her hair to hold her side bangs up.
Mentor: The Badger
Mask?: The Firebird, if she decides to become a great master and mentor, otherwise, none
Other: The knight

#1 Pyromancer: Anlann O'Connor
#1 Aeromancer: Aelin Whitethorn
#1 Hydromancer: Leif Hugh
#1 Terramancer: Aig Terra

The Healer:
The Guardian: Aug Terra
The Knight: Anlann O'Connor
The Dark:
The Scholar:
The Leader:

So an explanation of the titles above, the six titles listed are part of a Hexalliance, which is basically a group of friends who bond together to become more powerful. It is a delicate balance, and they must be compatible, and not just in a friendly way, but a magical way. The titles form three groups of two, one being more active, while one being more passive and less involved.

The Healer and The Guardian are a pair of active and passive titles. A Healer is active, and will stand in the 'fray' to heal and regenerate Hexalliance members. Meanwhile, The Guardian, shields The Healer and the other four with green magic, usually staying back away from the battle.

The Knight and The Dark are the second pair, being the offensive to the previous pair's defensive. A knight is a master of red magic. They can slash and hack away by raising a hand. Meanwhile, the passive Dark can manipulate three strength of the enemy, stealing the power andmaking them hurt by their own attacks.

The Scholar and The Leader do not necessarily fight, but they can. Neither is active nor passive. The Scholar can see probable events, the most likely, just about to happen, and can use thus knowledge to aid the team. A Leader is an optimist, and also strong willed enough to organize. Without one, a Hexalliance would fail. They are the glue, so to speak.

Go ahead and post!

Name
Orion Palomera
Age
21 (or 13 if we have to be ^^)
Gender
Male
Personality
He tends to keep to himself, he doesn't speak unless spoken too and will be friendly. he likes looking after children and respects everything, he loves animals. He will spend countless hours researching and doesn't mind learning, although he will rarely push his limits.
~
Orion tends to get worried easily and can be very protective of those in Aetheria. If he feels like anyone is threatened, he will go straight in and try to protect them. He wears a neutral expression and his voice can be very soothing. He isn't afraid to listen to new ideas and will help out if necessary. he prefers to let people try things and give them gentle advice than boss them around.
~
He tries to be open minded and rather caring, but struggles to do so at points if he sees someone he'd had a dream about. He is strictly religious and will pray three times a day. He also likes his hair long, decorating it with gold. Orion tends to remain neutral in situations and delicately point both sides to see the others perspective and see what they believe.
~
He is a rather easy person to talk to, his ear is always open to listen to if you can find him, since he is usually hiding in some sort of dark, quiet corner. He naturally tends to be able to sense emotions and will try to soothe the other person, he is good at mental calming.
Skills
An average Aeromancer, he is calm and doesn't have many offensive or healing abilities that are strong. His abilities many revolve around defensive, clairvoyancy and manipulating dreams, although he keeps what he may see to himself. Some of his defensive powers include: almost impenetrable bubbles of air, a whirlwind that will twirl one the same spot, keeping a certain area fine inside it's eye and keeping out anything that approaches it (using this one will exhaust Orion) and giving people who are travelling underwater an air bubble they can breathe through. However, he can't do what advanced aeromancer/ apprentice one can do.
Future Colours
A very pale, greyish gold outlining the orb, a dark green nearer the heart of the orb and a few black speckles
Future Tower

The inside is like a maze, some walls scattered in books, papers, writing and other belongings. They are desks piled with stuff and the lighting is dim. The place is spotless and clean, despite there being hundreds of bookshelves and desks carrying things.
Appearance

Ex-Mentor
The Scholar
Mask?
A Kirin
Other
Could he be a Scholar mentor and assist the aeromancer apprentice?
Orion also documents what happens on the islands, keeping track. He writes down the events that've happened and keeps Aetheria's history in check, however he is protective it and only lets the grand masters touch it.

Well those were part of the apprentice thing, because those titles and duties are part of a group of mages. But if you want them to be 13 and the Scholar for this particular group they could be, or a different scholar.

Name: Leif Hugh
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Personality: Leif cares little for interaction with others and is very observant. It's hard to lie to him. He is of a neutral party and chooses only the side that will benefit him if he helps them. He keeps it balanced between what sides he assists, though. He has a small group of friends, but even he tests their trust in him because he doesn't always side with him. He's a very complicated dude who will have you asking, "Why aren't you evil?"
Skills: Leif is a Hydromancer. He usually uses water he summons from nowhere as a weapon, but this takes all his energy. His energy wouldn't be used as much if he used an already existing body of water.
Future Colours: a variety of blues, black, white ((three black and white are exactly half of one another))
Future Tower:

Appearance:
His eyes are dark and watery looking

Mentor: The Vulture
Mask?: if he were to become a master, he'd wear a barn owl mask
Other: The Dark

What color would the gem be if the person was to be neutral? Not evil, but not good either, if you catch my meaning?
