There was a conversation in General Chat about some ideas for leaderboards. I thought I could make a thread here and people could respond with what they would like to see and not like to see. Feel free to agree or disagree. Would you like to see changes to the leaderboards, more leaderboards added, or no changes at all, and share why you feel the way you do.


What I would personally like to see.

First, I'd like to see additional breeding leaderboards broken up by species.

Second, any new leaderboards should be restarted every so often. One or two months maybe. (But I don't think the original leaderboards should be tampered with personally.)

I'm inclined to think that maybe the original leaderboards shouldn't be altered. Flute brought up the idea of having two leaderboards which would be the original ones and the new ones. I personally really like that idea. The question is what is fair. There are those who've been here longer and have had more time to work on leaderboards but they did put a lot of work into gaining their positions. There are those who have been here more recently and they would love to work just as hard but would like a more level playing field. I think having two sets of leaderboards would probably be the fairest solution so that both are rewarded for their work. I think it is too late to do this with the original leaderboards. There's people who've put so much time and effort into them (I may be biased I admit) but I would like to see something that newer people can jump into and compete as well. And new leaderboards just sound like fun. Hopefully, it's not too difficult to do more leaderboards. Would have to do a new layout to include both the old and new and not sure how that would work.

I like the idea of seeing how the leader boards of individual species would look. I think it would add some depth to breeding goals which the game can always use a bit more of.

I don't really concern myself with leaderboards enough to have opinions on the rest of it really?

I think an interesting approach would be two leaderboards, if it's not too difficult. Leave the one we currently have as is, but add a second one that resets on the first day of the month. That way there will always be one for those who play tons that make it up there, but another to recognize those who do say, a ton of nurturing or a ton of breeding in one month.

Of course, I don't think all of the leaderboards need to be changed like that, just the ones that have counters on them (number of dungeons cleared, scales earned, mission record etc etc) The ones for the first to clear the dungeons, and for the highest stats would be the exact same on both boards, so it would be silly to have two separate boards for those.

This would be a great way to incentivize more newer players to participate in the game more, since they'll have a chance at getting on the leader boards, even if it's just for a month.

As is everything excluding the Task Log and Ethernia, the Leaderboards will be recoded in the near future.

I will keep this in mind and see no reason not to have an 'All-time' set of Leaderboards and a 'Monthly' set.

I'd like to make one other suggestion. Not sure what people would think but to have the trophies and ribbons for the monthly leaderboards look slightly different. Just something fun I thought about. I do understand that that would mean a new art being commissioned though and it's not really practical. I figured I should throw it out there before the new coding is done.

Definitely feasible. But probably something we won't do until a bit down the road when we can invest some resources into it.
