All that stands between me and the Lost Grove release next week is Vorpar...and he's being stubborn about it, to say the least. I think I have the strategy down (thwack away at him, defeat the minions as quickly as possible, heal, and thwack away again)...but it just doesn't seem to be having much effect. It was only a little disheartening. :)

Should I restat my pets? Reassign their proficiencies? Muster up a different team? I'm trying to hunt down some better equipment also.

This is the current battle team if that helps:
https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=3719179 (2nd position)
https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=3721353 (1st position)
https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=3666521 (3rd)

Thanks in advance for any help! (Or just commiserate with me - that works, too. ^_^)

Well I fought Vorpar so long ago that I don't remember the exact tactics,
so I'm not much of a help with that. xD

But!

As for your pets...
Azon:
Having a Shadow tank (1st position) is actually a good thing :)
Azon can heal himself and stack up some damage on his enemies.
His proficiency points are ok too. However... He has a really underleveled equipment!
You should, if possible, always have the highest level gear your pet's level allows.
So I'd really get him some higher level gear based for Intelligence and Agility.
(That would be the Illusionist set)
I would also change his relic to intelligence based.
(Those even stat relics are only good for health based mission pets in my opinion)

Julina:
A water buff is not bad but I'd put one more proficiency point to damage (strenght)
or to agility rather than to health.
I'd also get her more gear of the Assassin set that is up to her level.
These are Strenght/Agility based.

Moriah:
You already have a shadow tank and a buffer.
A healer is not doing much here. You lack damage.
I'd switch Moriah's element to Wind to get some much needed, stacking damage.
And again I'd give her 1 point in health and two to damage (strenght)
If you switch her to wind, you will need a good high leveled gear
that is based on Strenght/Dexterity and that'd be the Myrmidon set.

Overall your pets are quite low on stats.
I don't know how diligent you are when fighting and levelling your pets,
but I noticed you have some good pets that, if trained to high levels,
would make a much better job as your fighting team!
Examples:
https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=3724875
That Griffi would make a much, much better Shadow tank than Azon. :)
https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=3725564
That Vene would make a great Fire based pet.
(Fire pets are great when fighting against more than one enemy! ^^)

Check out this thread. Also, make sure your pets are statted and geared well - that's always important.
Watch for patterns in the battle log, then block or attack based on those patterns. It might take a while, but you'll beat him!

Thank you so much for taking the time for this reply. It really helped me to focus on what I need to do for/with battle pets. Julina and Azon were my starters so they were leveled up almost by default...they got me all the way to Vorpar relatively easily so I guess I wasn't paying too much attention to things like base stats, etc. I guess I was just relying on equipment stats to get me there.

I do have an additional question about equipment, if you don't mind... is it the level of the gear or the quality of the gear that counts more? Because I do have gear closer to their levels, but the stats don't seem as good as what they have now?

I'll try Moriah out as Wind and see where that gets me in regards to Vorpar. I'm not sure if I'll make it into the Lost Grove right at release, but hopefully I won't fall too far behind! I also spent some time and tracked down some pets with better (I think) stats than my current pets. So I think once the newbies get trained up, my kiddos can retire to a nice life as mission pets. ^_^

Thank you again for you help!

Thank you for the reply and the link! I'm working now on leveling up some pets with better stats. We'll see how it goes. :)

I'm glad I could help :)

Well I also fought Vorpar with low stat pets but before I got to fighting him
I did a lot of hard and very hard missions and gathered good equipment from them.
(As well as from fighting)

As to level and quality of gear... It all depends on what you are comparing.
If you compare, for example:
A level 25 legendary relic with a level 45 uncommon relic of the same type,
that's pretty obvious that the legendary one might still be better.
But even a legendary level 20 relic usually pales near a level 50 rare relic.

So once again. It's better to have both quality AND level :)
Also what I noticed:
Higher quality gears seem to have more additional mana.
And that's a useful trait.

I also sent you some high quality gears for your Shadow tank :)
(The Illusionist set based for Intelligence/Agility)
I hope that will help. ^^
(If you start doing as many hard/very hard missions daily as you can,
you will have more than enough, like many other players ;) )

Oh my goodness - thank you so much! I'm not sure what, but if there's anything I can send you in return, please let me know! I think those will definitely help. I'll give Vorpar a whirl again later today - hopefully I'll have better luck now!

Yeah, I've been focusing mostly on the storyline recently. Getting a team of mission pets was on the "to-do" list before Lost Grove was announced and then got a little pushed aside. I was doing the Esior's Haven quests fairly regularly since they were easy. Pretty clear now that I've been going about this basically backwards. I think I could write the "How to NOT play Sylestia" at this point. lol

Don't worry. Take them as a gift. :)
I hope that will help at least a bit.

Yes, I know that many players wanted to finish the storyline quickly now,
because of the Lost Grove coming. ^^ That's understandable.
But rushing like that will still leave you a bit... vulnerable because, from what I've seen,
from the updates, The Lost Grove is going to be a very challangeing zone.

Missions are basically the most important (passive for you) thing your pets can do.
Many new players don't realise that they are the base for getting gold.
You will start with simple missions, then as your pets level and gain gear,
you will start doing harder missions. And they will satisfy many of your needs.

Mission satchels can give you gold, equipment and potions.
And getting potions from them is important because if you get them that way
you don't loose huge amounts of gold just to buy them.
(All of my potions now come from misson satchels)

If you need advice for setting mission pets I can talk from my experiences with them ^^

Thank you again for all of the good advice. In particular, the bit about rushing through the storyline would leave me a bit vulnerable in the new zone. I've now refocused a bit: I found three sylesti with (I think) fantastic stats that I'm in the process of training up. They're not even close to 60 yet, but I can tell the difference that the better stats have on the battles. And the wind element is amazing. I had no idea what I was missing!
So Vorpar is on hold for now...but I'm okay with it. ^_^ It's a bit less...stressful? now that I'm not trying to beat a timeline and get into the Lost Grove.

I'm also running more missions, more often. I have a couple that I'll be focusing on for missions once the battlers are ready to go. I'm getting some pretty sweet stuff out of the Sanctuary. :)

I'm always open to hearing more advice if there's anything more you want to share about mission pets!

(oh wow - you've already gotten up to 65?! Awesome!)

Yes, the Wind element is a perfect damage dealer, especially against single target. ^^
About Vorpar... I found someone else's post about him and I will quote here :)

You should watch for a little wave under Vorpars blue bar. When it pops up block all your pets so he cant throw them into the water. And also, when his minions pop up beside him, you cant do any damage to him and he starts healing. Kill his minions as fast as possible cause when they die he stops healing himself.

Yes, missions give a lot of good things. As for tips...
I can tell you about my own strategy.
I have 4 of each type of mission pet (a whole full tab xD) so I do not worry about
them being unavailable when their type of mission sits on the list. So..
4 for Health only, 4 for Strenght, 4 for Intelligence, 4 for Agility, 4 for Dexterity.

Of course you don't have to have THAT many! I just like to have one pet for one mission. :)
Meaning the stronger ones will always go for the Sanctuary missions,
the weaker ones will only go for Haven's missions, never higher.
This is my newest recruit that recently got to level 60 and got geared up.
That Ny'Vene boy is my Dex master and I never waste him for missions lower than
the Sanctuary's Very hard, level 50 Dex mission. :D
On the other hand there's Dawnstar... One of my oldest pets.
Her stats are not amazing but she got to level 60 and she's doing perfectly fine as a
mission girl for Haven's Hard, level 20 Dexterity missions,
All my Very Hard (level 50) mission pets are Ny'Venes
with at least 40-something in the desired stat. :)
Lower stat pets that have gotten to level 60 are still good for Haven's missions ^^
Of course the equipment should also be top quality for harder missions. Like with battles.

As for equipment itself...
Missions are where those 1-stat gear really comes in handy.
There are two types. Ravager that has high Strenght and low everything else, and Arcanist
that has hight Intelligence and low everything else. Because mission pets put everything into
being the best in ONE stat, these type of gea are the best for Strengh and Intelligence mission pets.

There are also those relics with all stats even. Personally I find them useless in battle.
But when put on a Health mission pet, especially the epic/legendary ones,
they do a great job. ^^

Ok enough of my rant because at this point I'm not sure what would be usefull to you.
Maybe you have questions on your own? :)

Also yeah... I got to 65! :D
Took a lot of grinding and potions before I got used to the Lost Grove's fights, but I did it :)
And I'm sure you will get there too in your time ^^
