I managed to catch a yellow female vulnyx or at least im guessing i did as it shows as both my part members not earning xp which suggest i caught her with the net but i cant find her amongst the stables is this a bug?

Nope she must of either died or ran from the net. The nets are not a guaranteed to trap the wilds. Pets earn XP from battle as long as they defeat their opponents, regardless or not they kill or trap the wild.

huh weird cause when ever i caught one they wouldnt earn any exp and they didnt this time either

If you catch the pet, or if it runs away, your pets get no experience because they did not 'defeat' any enemies. In this case, the pet likely ran away. When catching a pet, you can always make double sure you caught it right after the fight. If you caught the pet, in the battle log there will be a link to the pet you caught. If it ran away, there will be no link, but there will be dialogue to tell you that the pet ran away because it was scared.
