I am so so confused by this. Most people who have threads say 'bump' and I have no idea why!!

It's to "Bump up" your thread. Every post made bumps the thread to the first spot in the first page. You should only do it if your thread has fallen off the first page, as not to spam.(Sorry if this doesn't do a good job of answering your question)
