Hello! Ive been on Sylestia for a while but I didn't realy put much thought into battle, I usually just charged in and randomly attacked enemies. Now I think, are there any actual techniques or strategies? As in which order its best to use different attacks for best effect and whether I can somehow prevent that block enemies use that prevent a pet from my party doing anything... If you have any advices I would be happy to hear them!

Also after the new proficiencies system I started thinking about how best I could combine the pets' skills. Which elements work best with eachother in battle and which combination of skills is best? My current party is fairly good but I intend to start over with new pets that will have better statistics and Id like to know what best to specialise them at. I also rely on elixirs during battle too much sometimes sooo......

If you have any advice you could give me on this or just how to make battling as quick and painless as possible, I would be very grateful!

Bumping this up so someone might see it. Hopefully with the weekend - you might get some good answers.

There are some recent threads in the "players guide" forum on aligning your pets to elements and the threads also provide a bit more information on the best types of gear for each alignment.

Here is is:

If you ask me, a large amount of the strategy for battling lies in the elements, the proficiency points, and the gear you use for your pets! For regular battles, it's more about your party setup than the moves. Against normal enemies, it should be easy enough to win using only your pet's first ability! Even against zone bosses, that first ability should usually be the default. Ability 2 and finishing blow are useful in boss battles, but I don't think I ever use them on normal 1-2-3 star enemies. As for order of attacks...if you stick with ability 1 most of the time, I don't really think it makes a difference. And although that stun move is annoying...sadly I don't think there's a way to avoid it ^^;;

The arena, of course, is a different story, lol. And there are some zone bosses that can require a little strategy. If you have questions about specific storyline battles, feel free to ask :)

I laid out most of what I have to say about elements and stuff in that thread Iamakittymom22 linked in their reply - but I'll give you a little tip if you don't feel like reading the whole thing: if you want quick battles, you probably want a party focused on offense! So shadow, air, and/or fire are good choices. At least one point in health is a good idea for the first pet in your party, but otherwise, proficiency points spent in strength/intel give you higher damage, which means quicker battles~

Anyway! I'm always happy to talk about battling (if that wasn't obvious from my really long reply, lol) so feel free to ping or pm me with any questions you might have~
