so, I recently have bought some max stat ryori and led them into the battle.
they turned out to be very talented fighters.

actually, they were so talented, that they did not even look at their enemies.

you can see that this ryori is facing the opposite direction.

I know that it's written somewhere in the code whether the image generator should mirror the image or not - it does not mirror males and it does mirror females (and vice versa for enemy sylesti); I am wondering if some changes could be made so some males would be mirrored (and some females probably would not):

now he actually looks at his enemy!

I have no idea how complicated this change would be, but I thought that I might as well share my opinion.

I totally support this, i have a ryori in my party and every time im in a battle, I'm like, how can you attack somebody who's over there, when you're looking the other way?

because they're magic feline ghosties o3o and that is the utmost talent, loki XD maybe he's disgusted by the enemies.

but i do support this, in a way. i guess it would be easier to mirror the entire image, but what about just the head? so the head of male ryori are positioned like the females

mirroring the image is adding "mirror=1" to its code.
changing the head position is remaking the whole art, including all the traits.
I really think the first option is way better, faster and easier.

While I have no real opinion on this (not usually one to use ryo's for battle), keep in mind that the ryoris are also slated to be revamped at some point, so the male's head position may change at that point. For now, I'd say that if it's not too difficult to make an exception in the code for male ryoris, then why not? But if the revamp changes the direction the male is facing, that exception will also have to be erased (more of a remembering to do that, sort of thing)

Personally, I think it looks better the way it is now. Yes, when it is turned around i is "looking" at the enemy, but it also has its back turned on the enemy. Idk, that just seems like an even sillier way to battle.

I kind of just think about it like this: if the sylesti is turning its head towards you in battle, it is looking to the owner for support/instruction. Its not that it is looking away from the enemy, but it is looking to /you/ to tell it what to do.

Wanted to argue that this can go for other species.

It's often a case of the body/body language facing one way, but the head faces the other.

Sure, some eyes are looking at the 4th wall instead of directly at the enemy (ie female bulbori, female zolnixi, female faelora, male griffi), but for the most part, the head is facing away from the enemy for all these cases.

However, I don't really mind.
The overall body already faces the enemy, which would be weird if mirrored (in the ryori's case, the head faces the enemy but the rear end sticks out towards the enemy, and mirroring all the above pets would have the same effect; I don't really imagine pets facing enemies with their behinds outward at the cost of looking towards them).
It'd take some getting used to, but I find that this issue is a matter of preference.

I think if you did that, it would make the weakest part of the sylesti exposed.

That would be more unnatural looking to me.

sorry, but no support(when the back is turned, he looks like...
1. he's farting at the enemy....
2. he's a cat who just made dirt and is covering it up...
3. he's trying to run away(would be a little bad)...)

Edit: Aren't ryori going to be revamped soon? this could be something the artists could focus on and build the head differently, facing the other way.
