I decided to make a thread to keep track of my art entries for Sylestia. I don't usually do any art outside of when something on Sylestia calls for it. However, I've been wanting to improve and I thought it would be neat to make a thread that can keep track of what I've done and my overall progress. I'd be happy to hear any advice.

All of the stuff below so far has been done in Gimp and with a mouse. I'm hoping to eventually get a touch sensitive tablet and get used to using other art programs.

I also have to thank Zelly greatly. I didn't know how to highlight or shade until she showed me how. When working on different entries for Sylestia she's been a great friend who's encouraged me and given me advice.

Coloring Pages

Of the different competitions on Sylestia, I love these the most. I'm not good at drawing creatures or outfits. I won't include the first few that Sylestia had that I didn't finish.

Winter 2014
Looking back on this one there's things I definitely would have done differently. I do love my mountains though! I was watching Lord of the Rings and the mountains in it inspired me. I also like the doorstep quite a bit.





Spring 2015
I like my aeridini but I wish I had done genes on the the bulbori beyond iridescent gems and done something for the sky beyond just being blue. The bulbori also looks really shiny with the highlighting I did.






Summer 2015
I had a lot of fun working on the gene. I also ended up making a Sylvorpa based on the one in the coloring page.







Fall 2016
I think this one shows improvement over the previous ones. Where to put shadows and light still confuse me though. I also wish I had added stars or something to the sky.

2016 Fortune Festival Egg Design Contest
I made a garden with a pond using various little plants around my yard. Most of these are just weeds. In the center a piece of old looking stem was used as a snag. Scattered throughout are easter eggs and in the center below the snag is a nephini egg.








2016 Pumpkin Carving Contest
It didn't turn out quite as well as I was hoping with my sketch but I thought this was really amusing since water sprites made their return to the zone fest river this year and it seems I wasn't alone in wishing they hadn't.
