What are trait points when you try to generate a sylesti?

Trait point determine what genes and mutations a sylesti has. 1 trait point means 1 carried gene/mutation, 2 is 1 visible gene/mutation. So if you have a 4 trait point essence that means you can give the sylesti 2 visible gene/mutations or 4 carried or 1 visible 2 carried.

You can't get trait points unless you use a mutator on a tamed pet, use a essence to generate a pet or if you regenerate a revamped pet. You can also use a philter of nullification to remove a gene/mutation or a philter of trait disruption to shuffle traits, but you can't just randomly get trait points.

What fernwisper said, but you can also get trait points when breeding, but it doesn't specifically call them trait points. And with breeding you can only get traits the parents had
