Why dont you just make a farmer if thats what you want to rp as? It makes no sense really for so many to want to be a commoner when they are a lord/lady. And about his magic lvl:

you still made him a lord so wrong colour but otherwise I guess its fine. Maby just explain why he sells the furs, like he is from a branchfamily so far that he is no richer than a wealthy farmer/merchant ? Just some reason for him to work.
