I see people doing these breeding projects.. They have a goal and try to make that pet i think? But how does that work. I kinda want to do one to :3

Well in a breeding project you need 2 adults and 7 pets with similar looks but different families

Sooo... You kinda have bred the 7 pets with different adults? I rlly feel dumb now :3

If you are using essences, the minimum number of pets needed is three, but I always prefer four just to make things go a little bit faster. If you are just starting out, I'd recommend waiting to use essences only because they can be a bit pricey and really slow to start.

There are a couple of guides in the player guides forum that go over breeding in details, but some of the basics are:
1) Use advanced search to find pets with traits you are interested in breeding with (if you aren't using essences)
2) Pets with the same parents (full or half sibling) or are children of that pet can not breed. Everything else is good. Inbreeding is just a fun statistic and has no affect on the pets.
3) Understand carried/hidden traits and very basic genetics (each parent contributes one gene for every trait)
4) Have fun!
