I've just used a magical pie on this pet:

But it didn't add 6 days to its maturity? It still says 4 days old under Age.

That's because age and maturity aren't the same thing. The age is basically a counter since the pet was created. The maturity can't be seen unless you look at the pet's url. It's something that personally drives me nuts, but that's the way it's set up for some reason. Your pet will reach adulthood at an earlier age due to the pie.
