I'm not entirely sure I understand how Genetic filters and such work, and I don't want to save up a bunch of scales just to spend on something I'm not sure will even do what I want.

So my questions are, is there any way for me to add something to this pet I bought empty gene two/last empty trait?

And also what would I need to gene my first generated pet with visible traits?

There are multiple types of philters~ genetic mutators only work on tamed (caught in the wild) pets that have not been mutated before and have an open trait slot. They will not work on bred pets, starter pets, generated pets or exclusive pets.

If you're looking to try to get a pet that you can mutate and has multiple traits, you can get legendary scale shop eggs (which count as tamed) from the scale shop for 1900+ scales (they'll have 6 GP), 2400+ scale shop eggs are guaranteed 3-Visible. Legendary and mystical Ny'venes and lesser rarity Ny'venes can be bought as "tamed" pets from their respective shops in the third zone. Fabled species can be caught in the wild during their seasonal festival. Aeridini's will appear during the spring festival that will be starting soon~

Iolani is an example of a legendary Aeridini, caught during the festival last year.

She looked like this before I got her:

Because she is tamed, I was able to mutate her with jeweled feathers.

And for your generated pet, you can gene it with just carries and breed it to something else to try to get visible offspring. If there's anything you don't understand, feel free to ask. I'll be more then happy to help you answer any questions, as well as if you're trying to get a specific pet with certain traits. You may have to breed the pet to get the traits you want.

Edit: Also, lesser genetic mutators will randomly add a trait in an open trait spot. This can be a gene or a mutation and it could be carried or visible. Greater genetic mutators (this is a diamond shop item) will allow you to mutate into an empty slot of your choice, and you get to choose what you want to put in that slot (with some limitations- certain traits can only be added during certain festivals, some are restricted to certain themed pets).

This is a lot more complicated than I thought, thank you for explaining all that!
I had no idea what scale shop eggs were all about, now that I know I think that is probably my best bet to save for, and then alter them after.
