The old ones (left) and the new ones (right) look so different. Are they supposed to be different themes or are the old ones supposed to look like the new ones but they just didn't generate correctly?

Are they considered distinct themes by the community? If I bred my 6v MG with a new one would it be pretty much a cross breed?

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, I've been gone for nearly a year.

The change with this theme was purposely done during the 2015 Spring Fest along with most other themes. I'll list below a post to a guide that shows the changes. The picture above is how the theme was originally submitted. Below is some comparisons between the theme from 2014 and 2015 with the same traits.

https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=25437&page=1#4

I think the feelings regarding it is different from person to person. Some will consider it completely the same and breed between. Others won't. I don't think there's a consensus?

I personally avoid breeding between two different color variations because offspring could vary extremely between some of these. But that's just me.

Also welcome back to Sylestia!

Wow! That's really amazing guide. c: (no sarcasm) I'm going to treat them as separate, the grey to white and white to a dark purple for some traits is too big a difference for me plus it gives me an excuse to have another Morning Glory project. >:3c

I rechecked the pets' tags, like, 4 times to make sure I was absolutely sure before posting. xp

edit: I'm glad you posted that guide, I JUST started a Apple Blossom Qitari project because I liked the new ones and thought "why didn't I start this project already?" it was because the small colour difference on the old one was what made me not like them and I almost went full speed ahead without knowing the difference.

Thank you! I'm really glad you like the guide! I do actually need to add a qitari theme to it still. I think it was the Sweet Heart, but I'll have to see if Krin can unlock the thread for me to make changes.

I can't remember where it's been said but the current plan is for themes to be replaced every two years. I've been wondering if the color change with the spring themes was an experiment regarding just changing the same theme concept a bit each year, but they decided it'd be better to just retire them instead? It'll be interesting to see if there'll be any future color changes with the two year plan.

I hope there isn't too much difference between Sweet Hearts, otherwise it's too late for mine. :U

Whether they make new or keep old, I'm just... Really tired of brown themes. Says the person that made another Chocolate theme idea for that one thread.

Here's the changes between the two. At least offspring between should still be in the pink range?

2014

2015

I'm guilty of going with a brown theme for qitari entries this time, too. lol. It started with me trying to do a soda bread theme for vulnyxes. I still had qitaries to do though. And when I switched the generator to qitaries the soda bread theme just looked so much better on them. I ended up making something entirely different for the vulnyxes after that.

Darn it, that's a sizable difference. -3- At least they are all reds and pinks though, it'd be hard for me to accept a random white or purple.

I gotta say I'm curious how the babies of them would turn out. They seem like they'd be pretty.

I wouldn't have noticed at all except SpaceElf1 realized it and told me one day. I kept meaning to update the guide but I terribly forgetful/lazy. I might go ahead and message Krin while I'm thinking of it now to see if I can get that thread unlocked.

The new/old caramel apple qits have a slight difference as well, I checked after I realized my Sweet Heart fail. :s

Oh goodness. Thanks for letting me know. I see the differences now. I sent a message to Krin about unlocking the guide thread.
