I have a pet that can regenerate points and colors. How does this work? Can It only be done once?

When you click the regenerate pet button it will take you to a page that looks like the generator. There you select what traits you want vis and/or carried (it will show how many points you have to spend) and choose colors. Once you hit the regenerate pet button at the bottom, the pet is regenerated and that is that. It's a one time deal.
