The art factor and community is great!

I go by the rates of:

$1=100d=800k BP=250kg
.:. 1g = 3.2 BP
.:. 1 GP = 100d

I have no idea about the community, but there are some really good artists there.
You yourself could earn GP by selling custom pet bases, since you are an artist too. xD

And one thing to keep in mind is that 1 USD usually go for 2 GP because GP can be earned in site events, like submitting pets for the shops/adventure/events and so on.

While diamonds are not given out in sylestia, so most of it is usually bought from other players. So 1 GP might be worth less than 100 d.

Yup, around that. Not sure about the exact amounts though, but it is what you usually get when you look at the cash item shops selling for GP, and the payouts in different currencies.
