how do you trade items with other players... can you even trade with them?

Yes you can trade with other players. How you trade is kinda simple, BUT easy to miss. There is are small icons below the inventory, one of them is an envalope with an arrow, click on that and type in the name of the user you wish to trade with AND the cost of delivery(CoD) IF there was as price agreed upon.

To trade money, usually, you just trade them a worthless item for a high CoD
For example, you want to give X 5000 gold. Then, X trade you a mushroom (worthless) for a CoD of 5000g. When you accept, you get the fairy mushroom, and X gets the money.

For pets, if you want to trade them, just set them up for sale for 1g to said user.

For example X and Y want to trade a zolxini for a qitari.

X sells the qitari for 1g to Y (using their ID number at sell to user, so noone else can get it) and Y sells the Zolxini for 1g to X =)

Pet can be set for as low as one gold, but to trade/gift/sell to a specific person you have to have their ID Number(located below their user name on their profile).

The only way to really trade/gift gold is to use an item to do so. Unless you are wanting to buy diamonds(premium currancey) in which you buy from the currancey exchange or you buy with RL money.
