I'm having trouble differenciating some of the terms describing certain pets.
Fabled is the "rarer" pets because they have a recovery time from breeding of 7 days right?
I'm wondering what the difference is between wheel pets, themed pets, tagged pets (am i missing another type?)
Also wondering, since I've been stalked the breeding forum, what a themed pet project is and how you create it? I know some pets have the purple tag (?) but are they tagged or themed? Because they do seem to have a theme, and are there certain mutations exclusive to that themed pet? Which would mean themed pet projects can't really have a variety of possible genes if the offspring is "purebred" ?
It's all a big jumble to me, if someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it :]
Thanks!

wheel pets can only be obtained via the wheel, which is now retired. Themed pets can be caught in the wild in the festive zones. wheel pets and themed pets are both tagged pets. purebred, or pb pets are offspring from a specific tag. Doing a purebred project seems to require lots of communication between players. genetic mutators would aid greatly in doing a purebred project.
(someone will proabably come along soon and explain this in more depth)
edit: fabled pets are only avaliable to catch at certian times of year, i think its
winter-griffi
summer- lighira
spring- aeridini
fall- ryori
but nephinis are found in astryl's vale or somthing.

Uranium was correct with the fabled pets availability. Along with being available for only a few weeks a year (other than essences and the wheel) they have higher base stats and a longer breeding recovery time.
A "themed" pet is a limited color pet, usually only available during holidays and festivals. Admins have announced a new Mega-Zone coming soon that will have themed pets available as well.
A themed pet is considered "tagged" if it has that purple theme name on their profile page.
When a pet is "purebred" it means that it's an offspring of themed pets.. or it was somewhere down the line. It won't have a tag or anything. You can see if a pet is purebred by checking the
Up until the last festival, there was always a 'Wheel of Dreams" with several types of wheel pets available. They are themed pets, and tagged.. but also VERY limited. In some cases only a few are in existence. In most cases, wheel pets are fabled species but there are a few regular species as well. The wheel as been discontinued, but Krinadon has said they are working on something similar for the future.
The past few festivals have also had various "exclusive" tagged themed pets (there is a mouthful of terms for ya!) available by completing various activities. They are quite limited as well (not as limited as wheel pets) so they are usually more valuable.
All themed pets have the chance of having any gene/mutation available at the time of release, however you can use a mutator on a tagged pet to get a gene that was not released at the time. The only exception is the Windchaser Luffox from last festival.. it had 4 specific traits which were only available on that one theme. Those traits can be based down through breeding, but as far as I know there is no other way to get those genes.
I think that covers it all..? If not let me know and I'll try to answer anything. :)

Thanks both for your responses! :]
I do have a couple questions, you wrote "You can see if a pet is purebred by checking the..." That totally left me hanging haha, checking the what? The family tree?
So if I understand correctly, wheel pets and themed pets are both tagged with the purple tags. So if I wanted to start a purebred project without genetic mutators, I would be limited to only the genes "released" with the theme right?
Also, if I were to use a genetic mutator, does that devalue the project offspring? Is it like considered "cheating" sort of ?
And one last question, how does starting a tagged pet breeding project require a lot of communication between players unless you have your own female and 2 males?
Thanks so much guys :]

Hah! Sorry.. I was watching a movie during my response and I think that is where it started getting good.. hence the cut-off. But yes, each pet has a "Lineage" button on their page that will show their parents, and grandparents, sibilings, etc. Tagged themed pets will have a star. Example
All themed pets, wheel pets, etc have a purple tag (except for the very first few themes) if they are the official theme.
Using a mutator doesn't really de-value a project.. I think most people who do heavy breeding use them frequently. However, you can only use a mutator on a "tamed" pet once so if you mutate a tagged pet, then some may consider it less valuable as now they cannot. There are a lot of people that will buy up extra pets of themes they like just to mutate them later on when new genes are released.
If you are looking for a themed pet to breed with you can use the advanced search page. A lot of people will put their themed up for public breeding at various prices. I myself have over 200 themed set up for 1000 gold per breed. You can narrow down you search by specific trait, gender, etc.. but the main things you want to select are the "species", "theme", "for breeding" and "sort by" options (screenshot). This will list all of the the particular themed available for public breeding, listed by cheapest first. Some pets, like wheel pets, are more expensive to breed with as people want to keep them a bit more rare. If I'm looking to use a public breeding I'll usually contact the owner to see if they are interested in a breeding exchange.. basically, they breed with my expensive pet and I breed with theirs.. we both get an egg and don't have to pay the 100k+ gold fee.

Ahhhhh thanks!
So then if I am looking at creating a 6-vis themed pet breeding project, using a mutator doesn't really affect it since anyway the final offspring won't be able to be mutated? Just makes my project one gene easier to achieve.
Also, are the purebred offspring less and less valuable the more generations pass?
Do you have to keep breeding the offspring to another tagged pet (not offspring) to keep value?

For purebred offspring, more genes usually mean more value.. but it also depends on how much people are willing to pay for them. Just because you have a 6v purebred doesn't mean you'll be selling them by the dozen for high profit.
Purebreds can be bred with other purebreds and still be considered purebred.. as long as the originals were tagged.

And I'm guessing a purebred offspring of a themed fabled pet is worth more than non-fabled?

Uranium was not completely correct with the Fabled Pets
Though most of it was right, she forgot Ny'venes. Ny'venes are the only fabled pet (pretty sure) not found in festivals. Ny'venes are found in the arena in the third region and can only be found there.
